Plain honey, whether Manuka honey or not, is not sterile, and should not be used on open wounds. Products like Medihoney (made with Manuka honey) have been prepared for use on open wounds and are sterile. (KLD)

Perhaps instead of hijacking this topic you could talk with the OP via private messages. Thanks! (KLD)

I had a patient once who was having a lot of e. coli UTIs and when we investigated, he was doing bowel care bare-handed, and also doing clean self-intermittent cath. He had a TBI in addition to his SCI. Once we were able to get him to change his practices and use gloves for bowel care, his UTIs significantly...

No, baclofen has little or no effect on the colon or intestinal track muscles, as they are smooth, not striated muscle. The anal sphincter though it striated muscle, as is the external urinary sphincter, so may be effected by baclofen. (KLD)

I would strongly encourage you to find out what the sediment is. You ucan acifidify your urine (lower the pH) but before you go that route, I would check with your physician and see what they would encourage you to do to accomplish this.

Some people swear by the gel, others have the response that rollin64 has. It is certainly worth a try. And the positive is that with applying it to thea area that is bothering you allows for targeted relief.

Do you know what the sediment is made of? It might be helpful to have an analysis of it. In the meantime, have you changed the amount or type of fluids that you are drinking? Your diet? Any change in medications?
Going to a larger tube is not necessarily the answer. Finding out why...

I would use Medihoney Ointment and a foam dressing like Allevyn Non Adhesiveon that. Alternatively, you could use a bismuth impregnated dressing like Xeraform covered with a foam dressing on top.
Once it is healed, then consider using a wicking fabric such as InterDryfolded into the skin...Last edited by SCI-Nurse; 18 Jan 2021, 4:08 AM.

1. Eliminate caffeine from your diet.
2. Discuss with the new urologist screening you for interstitial cystitis.
