I watched "The Painter and the Thief", an intriguing documentary about the strange relationship developed between a Norwegian artist and the man who stole two of her best known paintings.

  • Do you have a close family member or friend who you would trust to manage your financial affairs? If so, you can give them a limited power of attorney (best drawn up by an attorney). Limited puts limits on what they can do. This does not give them power of attorney of the person, which would apply for...

Do not pre-inflate catheter balloons. This is an outdated practice, and with modern materials and manufacturing it can actually cause more trauma during catheter insertion than when inserting a non-pre-inflated catheter, and even more trauma than can be caused by having to remove and replace a defective...

    in Care
Most ports are just used with a Luer-tipped or slip-tipped syringe and push on/push off. There is not a twisting activated valve there...the Luer or slip-tip pushes in the valve, allowing you to either instill or remove fluid from the catheter balloon. You can twist if you want to be sure that you are...

You do realize that this thread is 7 years old? Why are you pulling it up again, unless you are a spammer or troll? Your lack of a profile also makes this post suspicious.

I think that you can do this and do it safely. That being said, you might want to give some thought to whether this is how you want to expend your energy. That is a decision that only you can make. My two cents worth is try it for a bit and see what works. At least that way, you know you can do...

    Free Wheelchair Mission

We have discussed this organization before, but it bears repeating, especially since they just had their 1,000,000th wheelchair delivery, and have moved a long way on the redesign of their chairs. I have been a donor since 2004, and will continue to do so. If you are able, please consider adding this...

Microdox solution is not available in the USA. It is essentially the same as Microcyn (Microdacyn Super Oxidised Solution), which is discussed at length on our forums. It is used for UTI prevention, not treatment.

replied to Replace leg bag after UTI?
    in Care
Are you using an indwelling catheter or an external condom catheter (ECC)? If using an indwelling catheter, it is recommended to change the catheter and drainage bags when a UTI occurs; in fact it is best to do these BEFORE submitting your urine specimen for C&S analysis. This is the only time it...

  • Dibenzyline and Metoprolol work in different ways, but both are used for hypertension management. Dibenzyline is is a long-acting, adrenergic, alpha-receptor blocking agent. Metoprolol is a beta-blocker which works by blocking the action of certain natural chemicals in your body (such as epinephrine)...

  • I used to sew a lot years ago - I even have two machines. It is not difficult if you are not picky about how it looks. And you will get better over time. I would encourage you to get one that will handle the thickness of the velcro and fabrics that you will be using. Otherwie, you are fighting an...

  • The general rule is that we do not treat colonizations - they are expected with an indwelling catheter of any type. Trying to treat an infection (symptomatic) without antibiotics is generally not successful - you may feel better while pushing the fluids and taking tylenol, but it is temporary. I would...

I would echo the post above. An infectious disease physician is in line for the issues that you are describing. I would also encourage you to get a copy of any lab work that you have done. It just helps if you have to see someone different for some reason and also keeps you informed about what is happening...

I would think that this is AD, probably from the trauma of inserting the new catheter. You might want to try skipping the irrigations for a couple of days. I would also encourage you to drink - but smaller quantities at a time. Take your BP during one of the headaches - and I would call your provider...

  • Brachial plexus injury involves much more than just shoulder pain. It also involves paralysis or weakness, and often sensory loss over the area served by these peripheral nerves. If you have shoulder pain alone, it is much more likely you have a muscular-skeletal injury such as to your rotator cuff...

Please note that the OP lives in Albania, where drug and medical services availability may not be the same as in your country.

  • Sorry Cook County is behind the trends in this. In my county in CA, hiring is ongoing, and training has been turning out classes of 70 contact tracers 1-2X/week for several weeks now.

  • It is advisable to use skin barrier wipes with any external condom catheter, either non-adhesive or self-adhesive, and best to apply it under appliance cement too.
