Like everything medical in the USA, doctors, prescriptions, DME, and more, submit their high retail price to insurance company (private or Medicare/Medicaid) and insurance will pay what they have approved/negotiated minus any deductibles or co-pay.     If I get time I will copy paper work and post it. I have it displayed in my office for quick access to show folks when I see doubt in their eyes. Retail is not what Medicare paid, I have that paper somewhere too. My previous Permobil M300 retailed for $45k.

    Retail price (not what Medicare allowed) for my F3 with all seat functions, USB port, no high speed or Bluetooth, was $72k. I was blown away when I got the paper work. I think the base price you are referring to may be for the base only, no seat or controls.
