Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll look into it? What do you do for the bouts of constipation?...

What’s the most effective form of fibre supplement for SCI, is it the fibercon you mention? Can it be used for constipation as well as loose stools?

Thanks for the replies. We don’t suspect C.Diff. I had a similar bout back in January 2020, but not as bad. I had stool samples tested then an they were clear. It eventually settled down again. I haven’t been in the hospital at all recently. I’ve had brief episodes since then, that only lasted...

    Bowel Issues

I've been really struggling with my bowel problems. I went from fluctuating constipation to full on super soft bowel movements and accidents nearly daily. On the Bristol stool chart the consistency would be mild diarrhea. It’s like my digestive tract flipped from too slow to too fast. My schedule...

I ended up being admitted to rehabilitation hospital for spinal cord injury's where I spent eight months trying to get my symptoms figured out. In the end they didn't fix anything told me it was Dysautonomia and sent me home… they also gave me my worst pressure ulcer and a case of osteomyelitis as...

I tried that form but it won't accept Canadian addresses. I just assumed they didn't ship Canada. I sent an email asking if they did I didn't hear back until today… shortly after I posted here. I should have been more patient. They do ship to Canada, I had to create an account in order to put my address...

    Canadian distributor of enemeez

Does anyone know a good source for buying this product in Canada? I searched on Google but most had a ridiculous price. I ordered some from eBay but still very expensive. I am desperate to try them though. Having significant problems with my Bp.

My spinal cord dr said in my case, the bowel could be triggering my bladder issues. They started when my bowel problem did. I don’t leak, I have a suprapubic catheter but I get bladder spasms or irritation that causes Autonomic Dysreflexia.
I’m long in the torso so hopefully that won’t be...

I was going to mention this. From what I understand, the modern bags and products are way ahead of where they were even just a few years ago. Filters, deodorizer technology, and gas relief valves.

lol I’m aware the stoma farts can be quite a thing. I’m not worried too much about that. I barely leave my house or yard these days with my current issues. Hard to affect a non existent dating life. I think there’s alot of newer devices that can help reduce that as well....

What kind of problems? Do you attribute the colostomy with your new bladder problems?

My bowel problems also seem to affect my bladder… they are in close proximity to one another so when my bowel gets irritated or distended it makes my bladder angry and causes bladder spasms.

I just spoke with my rehab specialist and she was reluctant about the colostomy, suggested I try a cecostomy first. But that still involves bowel routine misery. I’ll get to discuss both options with the surgeon whenever I get the consult. But I just want to be done with bowel care.

Really appreciate your feedback and information. I am definitely going to go for it ASAP… which is a snails pace here. I just hope there's not more serious problems causing my issues. I'm just playing the hurry up and wait game.

Thanks for your information! Basically exactly what I'm working for. That's some crappy luck about the Covid! Great that you got through it though. I will be vaccinated by the time any surgery comes along… hopefully that will still give me a little protection.

    Are you quad or para?

How long were you in the hospital post surgery?

How long did your recovery take?

Have you had any complications with it?

did you have any digestive/bowel issues like IBS or anything prior to colostomy?...

    Contemplating a colostomy… seeking input

I am a C4 C5 quadriplegic 29 years. Bowel care and lack of bowel control has been the worst part spinal cord injury for me. Now I am" ageing with a spinal injury"… and as they say the only thing that improves with age is wine and cheese. I've gotten to the point that a colostomy seems like...

I am dealing with this issue now. I am C4 C5 quad for 29 years. I got my suprapubic in 2013, I would highly recommend it over urethral foley. It can erode and damage your urethra overtime. However it won't necessarily cure your A.D. I was on ditropan for over 2 decades and it worked great but gave me...

I was diagnosed with dysautonomia in 2013 after experiencing exact same symptoms. It's an awful disease with no known cause or cure. Basically your autonomic nervous system stops regulating itself properly. Which affects everything, breathing, heart rate, blood pressure, digestion. My blood pressure...

I have had those red valves stick shut before. Sometimes the top of the bag with the inlet Will fold enough to prevent flow. Other than that they seem to work really well....
