Got it. I didn't see the message "I regret saying it" until now.

Come on man. You're saying Amazon is stealing Unger's product. Then you're saying "I'm not saying anything." I am used to nonsense on the internet but not from a smart guy like you. Either defend the statement or retract it. But don't try to deny what you said....

In other words, I am saying there is most likely a more believable explanation than Amazon is brazenly stealing Unger's product. Here's one. It's Unger's exit strategy. They sell Amazon the rights to manufacture their product and in return they collect royalties. Unless you know that isn't the case,...

Actually you are. You said that Amazon requires its sellers to disclose supply chain information and then uses that information to steal business from their suppliers. A reasonable person should never enter such a contract. It's literally entering an abusive relationship after being told the abuse will...

So, you're saying that even if Unger wants to put a clause in their contract with Amazon that prohibits Amazon from copycating, Amazon will refuse and Unger will proceed to do business with Amazon anyway?...

Undercutting the competition is not abuse. It's just weeding out inefficiency. But if Amazon requires a retailer to provide information that they use against that same retailer to basically steal business, then that's abuse of power and they should be sued for that. On the other hand, the retailer is...

That's the same design as the Unger just branded by Amazon. Looks like it's built just as well too. Great find! Amazon offers 2 for a little more than the price of 1 Unger. They also offer it in aluminum (standard model is steel) that is 2.2 oz lighter and could make a big difference to some people...

Measuring the same way you show it's 34". The overall length is about 37". Here it is next to a yardstick.

By the way, I totally agree with your comment about the handle. I like holding the pole that is holding the load vs holding a pistol grip that is 90 degrees to the load....

I'm impressed with the build quality and I'm not an easy customer to please. I just tried to see if I can pull the grip off the claw. Doesn't come off. It costs less than $20 in USA so it makes sense to buy a new one vs repair. Did you look at Unger's website (the link is in my original post)? They...

  • The rear is 0.5" closer to the floor than the front. That's with a 78 degree front angle bend and fixed angle footrest. The front and back of my shoe rest flat with my ankle in a normal position. With a 90 degree front angle bend my ankle would probably be extended on a fixed angle footrest. Hence,...

Hi Mike. I had the the type in the link you provided. Price was right and it was portable so convenient for shopping as you note. But it's only good for small and light-weight items....

The Unger Nifty Grabber is well designed, well built, and sells through many retailers including Amazon, Home Depot, and Walmart.

I've had the same one for 12 years.
    • All metal construction (except for the handle and rubber tip)
    • 5" wide opening with double claws makes it wide enough

I also use a bungee cord to tow luggage through airports. The contraction and expansion in the bungee cord synchronizes with the rhythm of your pushes. If you used a rope, the luggage would collide into the back of your chair....

I connected one end of the bungee cord to the crossbar across the backrest and stuck the other end into the cardboard box that contained the furniture. Fortunately, the cardboard was strong and didn't tear. Otherwise, I would have tied some rope around the box and attached the bungee cord to the rope....

    Smart Drive moved furniture

I was struggling to move some furniture. It wasn't very heavy but it was too large for one person to get their arms around. Hence, it required two people to move it. Then I thought about the smart drive? I hooked a bungee cord to it and towed it. Love the smart drive!...

Going from 0.75" to 1.5" wide is a huge improvement. Because they roll smoother and don't get locked up by every little pebble. Plus they don't dig into grass and dirt as much.

I have stayed with 4". Because the 5" reduces clearance. Here are some examples:

  • If you can wait it may pay off. Because new deals show up every day. I set an alert to get notified each time a new Craigslist listing appears. I went to see my van the first day it was for sale. I was the first one to see it and bought it on the spot. I doubt it would have lasted more than a day. Hence,...

  • You probably could find a loan. Don't know if you'd get a good interest rate. But today all rates are low so how bad could it be? If you're looking for a good deal, then consider Craigslist. Cash but great deals available.

I found an old 1992 Econoline van with a full conversion. It needed...
