Just know that withdrawal is a big issue with baclofen. One withdrawal symptom is increased tone and spasms. Hence, there is a tendency to have to increase your dose on an ongoing basis or else your tone may actually get worse. I am not saying not to try the pump. Just letting you know something that...

Space to maneuver comes down to door size. I don't think you can find a door large enough on a 4 door car. It seems that even the largest 4 door car has a smaller door than a small 2 door car.

Here's the fine print that they didn't say during the baclofen pump trial, "most patients require gradual increases in dose to maintain optimal response during chronic therapy."

That's an understatement. To be forthright...Last edited by August West; 30 Jan 2023, 10:00 PM.

It's not so much the DME as the person you have the good (bad) fortune to find. Hit and miss....

No stones from last ultrasound 6 months ago. No infection from last culture last week. Just started oxybutyni last week. Straight cath at least 5x daily.

Short Answer: Root cause may be kidney stones and UTIs
Long Answer:
My injury is 39 years old. At first the spasms were just a nuisance. My legs muscles would quiver, and small amounts of baclofen would stop it. Over the next 10 years, the spasms grew stronger and stronger....

Getting off the Baclofen Pump
Reducing my baclofen pump dose often results in high muscle tone and constant spasms indefinitely. I get stuck in a fixed position where I can barely move while my body shakes violently. These spasms are strong enough to break bones. At that point, I would characterize them more as seizures than spasms....

I place my left hand on the cushion so that I can lean and reach the left lock with my right hand.

I do the same thing and only got one or two flats over several years when I used a Roho. Dirt falling into the cushion is the most likely cause of a flat. Sand is the worst. It's like tiny razors. Probably need to clean them every day.

I was assuming that you’re wearing pants. I suppose sitting naked on a sheepskin may be safer than wearing underwear on a sheepskin. But maybe not. Every choice has risk....

Your skin is more at risk with the wrong underwear but less at risk with the right underwear, like compression underwear because it does not bunch....Last edited by August West; 15 Jan 2023, 5:00 AM.

These are a good choice because they hug your skin so there is no bunching, no friction, and they wick moisture. But they are expensive. Underworks offers less expensive microfiber briefs and also spandex briefs at less than half price. They also offer full leg compression underwear that helps circulation...

Thanks for the information. This is very useful!

Spoke to my urologist about urodynamics. He said it was done several years ago but the results rarely change over time. Is there a study that shows that it needs to be done periodically?
-
I'm T-7/8 complete for 40 years and live independently. I don't see that changing as long as I make wiser choices that protect my health, prevent injury, and enable physical and financial independence.- Don't rent. Buy a house so you can customize it and stay there for life.

A back that is taller than necessary may provide more comfort while sitting still. But as you mention, a back that is too tall can restrict range of motion, which is more than just an inconvenience. It can lead to shoulder injury. Here is a link to upholstery backs at DME Hub. They usually have the...

I have ultrasounds done every 1-2 years. That includes measuring how much residual urine is left after straight cath. Do urodynamics studies consist of more than this? Maybe they test how much back pressure is against the kidneys?...

How about developing a technique where they don't touch the ground? I turn the chair so that the footplate touches the ground while the back rests against the car door arm rest. The wheels are off the ground in this position so they can be easily removed. The footplate is the only part of the chair...
