    Olive oil

I've been finding that olive oil, a lot of it, is an effective stool softener. Much better than docusate sodium which had no effect.

However, it is hard to eat that much olive oil - lots and lots and lots of pasta - and, more importantly, I am not really sure at all that the olive oil is...

Multiple ulcers appearing on foot and I don’t know why

Over the last month I’ve had three or four incidents of ulcers appearing on my right foot. Each has been about an inch in diameter and looks exactly like a stage two pressure sore. After several weeks care with Xeroform & polysporin, the first group seemed to heal, but a few days later a new...

Is skin redness while showering a sign of cellulitis?

I have had more weird symptoms in the last three weeks than in three years when things were going well: mysterious skin lesions, a burn, a bad UTI resistant to a bunch of things. I think my doctors are starting to get annoyed honestly.

    Slowed thinking after UTI?

I had a fairly bad UTI over the weekend, with fever spiking to almost 103 and that was with Tylenol. Turned out to be klebsiella pneumoniae. I had just about every symptom one could get, nausea, vomiting, spasms, discharge, chills, confusion etc.

But my fever has been normal for the last...

    How accurate are forehead thermometers?

Most of my doctors and nurses use forehead thermometers now. The last one had a temperature of 98.6 degrees, but an oral reading I took a few minutes later with an old Welch-Allyn thermometer was 100.4 degrees. I'm not sure if there is something wrong with my thermometer, or theirs.

    Also,...

KLD By the way you advised me a few years ago when I got my last cellulitis infection on the foot always to wear shoes when in the wheelchair. Unfortunately I did not take the advice because I was too lazy to put shoes on and off all the time. But now I see you were right and exactly why. The shoes...

replied to Pressure sores from wheelchair footrest?
    in Care
baldfatdad what is really annoying is that the wheelchair manufacturer places a big, dangerous bump 2 inches from your shin (where the tube that is welded to the footrest fits into the larger hollow tube on the frame - that is where the bump is). Knowing people's legs often go askew on there. That is...
