  • New Navigation Bar item: Recent Posts

I created a new entry on the Navigation Bar called Recent Posts.

It is the past 7 days worth of posts.

New Posts is just that: new and unread posts and is unique for each member.

Once we read a post it falls off the New Posts list, but sometimes we read something...

  • That's kinda not what trust means. Besides, the only folks with any real entitlement to "proof and assurances" are those paying the bills. Are you paying the bills? If not, that attitude seems a bit...strange. If you are paying the bills, there has to be better channels to request that...

  • "...regular spinal cord injuries..."

    That's kinda funny.

I trust Dr. Young to set the priorities where they need to be set.

Although Im also kinda excited to hear the focus has shifted onto my type of injury, if this is true. Ive been pretty discouraged...

  • In the absence of a burr grinder, using fewer grinds than you think is correct, of slightly more coarse of a grind than you'd think was "right", along with a pinch of salt into the grinds, yields much more flavorful results to my palette....

  • Tom was let go from Permobil shortly after the merger. Shame, too. He was one of the greats. An executive who wasn't above directly dealing with and helping his company's customers. (No surprise he apparently didn't fit the Permobil mold.)

I used this stuff on 2mm carbon fiber that I made...

No, I gotcha. I just think it's not a great argument for side stepping the FDA process. It's what I'd call a 'flawed inference', an anecdote, at best. Your single unit failure isn't nearly enough to impugn the entire design of your chair that failed or the effectiveness of the safety and destructive...

Does the button move or is the button stuck too? If it does move, does it still seem like it has spring tension under it?

No. Like the majority of outcomes not the outliers. I want to know manufacturers at least have to be held to a minimum standard even if that standard isn't perfect. Without it, we know nothing, and assume all the liability onto ourselves.

I dunno. A lot of those "hoops" are safety and efficacy testing, to make sure it won't hurt people. And destructive testing to objectively measure its limits for liability purposes. Etc.

Avoiding that stuff as a short cut to market isn't entirely good for us....

August West posted a set a while back that I thought looked really good. Don't recall the brand though. Maybe he'll chime in since I @ him, he'll get a ping about this thread.

  • I've been using X-Laced XLX for the past 12 months and I totally agree. They're noticeably stiffer and easier to pop on and off than standard LX. They particularly flex less using Ds Locks too.

  • I must be missing how this is better than, say, using Gentamicin; which is super cheap and proven effective. 500ml of effective Gent solution isn't even $10 where I live and that's basically a weeks worth.

"It's not a wheelchair." Ok, it's a chair with wheels, then. LOL.

Seriously, though, that is pretty cool for the price. Not many, if any, other comparable options. Seems quite capable too. I hope they succeed.

For the record: There is no shame in it being a "wheelchair"...

I say be true to your experience. That's what makes it your art. No real need to speak for or about anyone else or anything else other than what is true and real for you. "Art by committee" is rarely, if ever, as meaningful as authentic personal expression IMO.

    in Care
Lots of people have both painful muscle tone (spasticity) as well as shaking type spasms. Some folks report using a standing frame and/or stretching helps but that always made mine way worse. I address it chemically, with medicine. What kinds of doctors are treating you? The right kinds know how...

Hello. Welcome aboard. Sorry you had to find us. FWIW, I haven't remembered an anniversary since about my 3rd one, over 10 years ago, until my Mom calls to remind me. It'll eventually be easier, or even a non-issue, when that day rolls by. Although she never seems to forget, so maybe it sticks...

I use 4 and 5 x 1.5 Frog Legs Softrolls with aluminum hubs. Most of my chairs have had 4x1.5 but I went up an inch for the most recent one. With a SmartDrive I wanted a little more forgiveness for cracks and pebbles and such. They seem to drive a little smoother IMO. The wider casters dig in less...

  • I'd probably order something like this, if I wanted more traction on a non-marking 540/24" tire without adding too much width or height that would mess up the setup:

If you know your rim size (e.g. 540x20 for standard...
