This is pretty scary. Why would there be a bump in someone’s rectum? Is this also known as a polyp?

Thank you for Replying to my post and providing good information. My family does not have a history of prostrate cancer as far as I know. Hopefully this isn’t something very serious. I’m going to call my urologist in the morning

My urologist hasn’t done a digital prostrate exam but I’m calling my urologist tomorrow to she if she can examine me. There hasn’t been any recent sign of bloodLast edited by KyleP2112; 5 Apr 2021, 9:23 PM.

Your PCP could do a DRE but Urologist better. Also have your PSA drawn even though you are younger than 50. The prostate is not hard or should not be. Do you have a family history of prostate cancer? Black men can have it at an earlier age. Very controversial as usually it is a slow growing cancer....

A little while back I used to get shorter tipped Foley catheters through my medical supply company but it doesn’t seem like they are around as far as I can tell. You can try searching online for different companies that sell catheters and maybe you could find something

Internal hemorrhoid or something else?
I have a question for the SCI nurse or anyone with knowledge. While doing bowel program this morning the person helping me felt something smooth and raised about four inches in that she hasn’t felt there before. Could this be a hemorrhoid or something else? What about the prostrate?

Great to see someone can live a relatively active life and do what they want in their wheelchair and the urostomy doesn’t get in the way...

For anyone who has a urostomy, would you say your overall quality of life is better then before the procedure or is it mixed or even worse? Just wondering what I’m setting myself up for and what to expect
I’m really trying to keep my bladder and the original plumbing as long...

Thanks again for sharing what appliance has worked well for you. It’s great to learn from someone who’s already gone through it. You are right about appliances coming out… Once had a catheter pulled out And someone was helping me get my pants off.
what’s your approach...Last edited by KyleP2112; 29 Mar 2021, 10:30 PM.

Which appliance do you use? How was your experience been using this while you’re up during the day with pants on? At some point soon in the not distant future I’m going to have to have this done. My bladder is so painful, will hold so little urine that it seems to constantly spasms with...

Be careful of laying on your side too much though. While attempting to heal the wound on my right ichium I developed a wound on my left hip after an ingrown hair in too much pressure caused the wound. Still the wound on my hip is doing a lot better and the wound on my butt is much smaller. It’s...

Thanks for all the good info. So the appliance goes over the stoma but does it stay on relatively securely? I worry about it coming off while I’m up and moving around or bending over while in the wheelchair

True having the suprapubic catheter connected to a Bad bag doesn’t get in the way much.
Here’s a question about the Ileal conduit. How does the catheter stay attached so it doesn’t slip off and cause a mess while the person is up and doing things?

Considering Urostomy/Ileal conduit Surgery
Can anyone share their experiences having a urostomy or Ileal conduit surgery? How has their life been different after surgery? What about issues like having sex after the surgery?
After a couple years of terrible bladder spasms and nearly constant pain I’m considering a urostomy....Last edited by KyleP2112; 25 Mar 2021, 12:41 PM.
