Yeah, this is frustrating....
Her concerns are not unreasonable for a doctor meeting you for the first time. Remember, they know nothing about you at all, and are trying to make sure they aren't missing anything that could be really bad. My Dad's feet look frightening after a few minutes...

My Dad started using a uretheral foley (not SP) last year. His urologist said most people change it every month, but people who get more UTIs like my Dad might change it more often. Right now he changes it every 2 weeks or so. He pushes it until his urine starts to get really nasty (thick sediment,...

So, it was unclear from your post.... but are you disconnecting the leg bag every day and removing it and replacing with an overnight bag directly attached to your foley? Or are you connecting the overnight bag to the bottom of the leg bag? Are you spraying microcyn directly into the open end of the...

When my Dad moved back into his house after home modifications were done (wheelchair lift outside, staircase lift inside), we hired an appraiser to come. We didn't spend $450 because we didn't ask for a full detailed appraisal appropriate for the bank etc.. We just asked him to write a letter for...

Sorry to hear you are back on antibiotics. I'm amazed that some of the simple antibiotics seem to be effective for you. How long of an antibiotic course do you take?
Yes, it is a good idea not to leave the foley in for 2 months if you are getting UTIs every 2 months. Let us know how the...

This sounds like reflux to me too. How do you sleep? Are you lying flat? Try propping up on an extra pillow or sleeping on a pillow wedge or raising the head of your bedframe on a couple of blocks.
My father has intermittent feelings of "fullness" (early satiety)/burping/chronic...

Call the surgeon today who did your shunt for psuedotumor and tell the RN what your symptoms are and they will let you know which doctor you should see first. If you can't call is there an email/web based communication system with any of your...

I'm so sorry you have been through such a struggle. My Dad as also had recurrent EColi, but not as frequent right now as yours. He has a couple UTIs clustered every 6 months or so.
Methenamine is 1g twice a day, and as the nurse said you need to have acid urine for it to be most effective....

Is there one specific bacteria you are having trouble with right now?
What are you taking daily for prophylaxis?
What does your infectious disease doctor say? Urologists should not be managing resistant UTIs. They just don't know enough.
Has the antibiotic fosfomycin...

My father has the same issue. He uses 4L bags. He has never had a problem getting them covered.
Have you started by telling your doctor the issue and asking them to change the prescription to 4 liter bags? Your supplier will make less profit off them, but should be able to supply them...

hlh replied to Dear Quadriplegic, Please Tackle Your UTI and/or Flu Symptoms As If They Are Covid-19in CareI would wonder too. Maybe ask your doctor if you could get the COVID antibody test, which would determine if you have had COVID in the past....

hlh replied to Dear Quadriplegic, Please Tackle Your UTI and/or Flu Symptoms As If They Are Covid-19in CareThank you for sharing your experience. It is great to hear you were rapidly treated and are doing better.
Did you get the assistance you needed with SCI related stuff in the hospital (eg. bowel/bladder assistance, turning if you were weak and needed help, whatever...) or were the nurses...
