Fosfomycin can be given orally. Each dose is supplied as a packet of powder that you dissolve in water and then drink. Simple UTIs can be treated with one dose. Complicated UTIs are usually 3 doses (separate each dose by 1 or 2 days) or sometimes more. My Dad had some diarrhea with fosfomycin....

  • Are the adjustable bases able to elevate the entire bed up and down (to pick an optimal height for transfers), or do they only elevate the head or the feet?

My Dad needs to get a new bed at some point, and has developed a lot of skin issues with aging, and I wonder if this could work for...

You might want to get an opinion from an infectious disease doctor - not a urologist. First, most urologists are not very interested in UTIs, and many are not as experienced with chronic SCI/neurogenic bladder. I'm not sure that rotating an antibioitic every month is a good idea....

Thanks for sharing the info on UroVaxom. Very interesting.

My Dad has also had a few EColi ESBL UTIs this year. They were resistant to most of the routine antibiotics, but they were subsceptible to fosfomycin. Dewie27, has your doctor been checking this antibiotic to see if the bug is...

    Hi there,

Wow - we're in luck! My Dad was most interested in the 16 x 18 to use in the shower. How much would it be for one, or what if he got both? Many thanks!

    Hi there,

I know it has been a long time since you posted, but do you still have that low profile ROHO you posted about that you wanted to sell?

My Dad has developed a couple pressure sores during the quarantine and know we need to cover every surface in ROHOs! Your ROHO is...

Sure - I think they were talking about fosfomycin though....

Martiniani77 mentioned: "1 day use , 1 off and 1 more use of Fostamicine 3mg.. 2 packets in total"...

That is a bit confusing, probably due to language issues. But Fosfomycin comes in packets... each is...

Actually, my Dad has had good success with fosfomycin for complicated UTIs. It is starting to be used more for complicated utis and is recommended more by Infectious Disease docs, less by urologists who are not familiar with it.

Since fosfomycin has not been used for many years, there is...

replied to Are you using a "valve" with your foley?

    These concerns are reasonable.

My Dad would only be using it closed for very limited periods of time to allow instilling with a longer dwell time, or to avoid using a leg bag during physical therapy session, for example. His bladder pressures are good on trospium, and he has good sensation...

Are you using a "valve" with your foley?

Is anyone regularly using a valve with their foley? Like these - a newer brand I recently found on Amazon..

How quickly does bladder size and capacity shrink once you start using a foley catheter, so that it is not really reversible if the foley is removed? Probably depends upon bladder pressures etc...

    Hi there,

Thank you so much for your useful advice. I did get him a Roho for the toilet seat, and that has helped a ton. He is really getting tired of the bed rest, and the healing is slow but steady. His doctors have advised not to cover the wound with dressing now because of the type/location,...

Hi Hih, regarding the pressure sore your dad has. It actually sounds like your doing a great job of caring for it. If you don't seem to be having any luck with the barrier creams. This is just a recommendation. I think it might not be a bad ideal. To get some medihoney and also a breathable island...
