  • Wow - I have never heard this. Urologist never instructed us to replace the water. SCI physiatrist never recommended this. Are folks on this board doing this?...

My Dad had a similar situation. He had about 7 or 8 UTIs in a year, and was doing CIC. The UTIs were becoming resistant to antibiotics and he had to be admitted to the hospital twice in 3 months for IV antibiotics. Not good. They did a CT scan of his kidneys/bladder, and he had urodynamic testing...

Unfortunately, our attempts to help my Dad's pain with trials of CBD/cannabis failed. We couldn't find any doctors who had any knowledge and could advise and follow our trials. Even the doctor who advertised as a cannabis friendly adviser only gave very general suggestions with zero recommendations...

  • What are you sleeping on now? How often are you turning?

Unfortunately Joerns will not have a bed that will be reimbursed by Medicare. You will have to pay out of pocket. Medicare will only pay for the cheapest types of hospital beds - basic models of Medline, Drive, Invacare. Dolphin...

Today he has an appointment with his gastroenterologist who has been following him for more than a decade, is very conservative...

Thank you for your excellent recommendations. My Dad has pneumonia now, so we will have to delay the surgery until he is stronger, so I will try to have another appointment with the surgeon and his NP (who may help with the orders?) to make sure we go over this list with them. I'm glad you recommended...

Thanks. I appreciate the proactive idea! Fortunately we don't need to move to Clinitron at this time. Prevention with a LAL mattress that we can elevate the head of the bed is probably the best for my Dad, as the Nurse indicated....

Advice when planning to be admitted for surgery

Any advice, from personal experiences, of things to do/ask for when being admitted to the hospital for surgery?

My 79 year old incomplete para father is being pushed to have partial repair of his Type 4 para-esophageal hernia. It will probably be done laproscopically, and he will likely...
