On a whim I ordered a set of Schwalbe Ones. We'll see how those run. It's a whole new world now that I have a backup set of wheels. I'm not sure how I survived living with just one set of rims for so long....

You’re absolutely right about the glass and hands. Since my Injury I am pretty prone to breaking glasses, probably drop one on the floor once or twice a year. Have cut my hands several times on glass that got picked up in the tires. This is the first time the tube got cut though....

I have some big tire change levers left over from my motorcycle days that I use in combination with one small plastic bike tire changing lever. It gets the job done, but it's tough to not scratch the inside with the levers because it's so tight getting them up underneath the tire. I can get it done,...

    Marathon Plus failure

So failure might be a bit misleading. It did get punctured though. In >10 years rolling only these tires I've never had a puncture, and I've gotten so confident in their puncture resistance that, while I won't go out of my way to roll over glass, I also won't go very far out of my way to avoid...

For jeans I use https://www.madetoorderjeans.com/. You can customize almost any dimension of the jeans and you can measure an existing, good fitting pair and then make any modifications you care to from there. They don't have very many options to modify the pockets, other than removing the back pockets,...

It seems to me that you're thinking about this pretty rationally. Colon cancer screenings are done to detect cancer at an early stage so that you can start treatment early. The overall rate of colon cancer is about 4.4%, but it might be worth asking your doctor if the polyps you have had in the past...

  • Someone has to be interested in bringing in money or the individual branches would fold.

My guess (and I have absolutely no evidence for this) is that DME's make the vast majority of their money from much "easier" clients. Someone being discharged from SNF with dementia who needs...

  • Having attempted to work with NSM on getting a new chair for over one year (unsuccessfully because I wanted to pay cash for upgrades), I’d lean more towards incompetence than fraud.

I’ve no doubt that they would have replaced all the parts they told you they wanted to, but that’s...

  • Wow, that's really good life on the marathons. Mine desperately need to be replaced and I guess they're the original ones that came on my new chair about 10 months ago, but generally they don't last me six months. I probably put more mileage on my tires than the average user though. Prior to coronavirus...

  • If you're talking about the marathon, it seems the main selling point of the tire is it's puncture resistance. Why not go with a Shox (or whatever is good, haven't had solid tires in many years) that will probably last you longer at much less cost with much easier installation and likely very similar...

This one looks pretty similar to the one I have right now.

I think I'll buy both of the other two and see which works best for me.

Thanks for all the recommendations yall....

    Best reacher/grabber?

So for the past 13 years I've been using the same reacher/grabber thing I was given when discharged from rehab. It works okay, but it's kind of flimsy and sometimes the plastic grabber part flexes too much, especially if the object is more than a half pound or so.

    Who's got a recommendation...

  • Advocating for physical accessibility at retail establishments

I just moved to my home town again after being gone for 10 years. I moved to a neighborhood that I used to frequent which was well into the gentrification process when I left and is now full of millennials and breweries and overpriced restaurants and tons of (as yet still closed down) bars.
