Can you get a lump sum settlement from SSDI?

I currently receive monthly benefits from my long term disability policy through my employer at the time of my injury AND SSDI (the amount I receive from SSDI is deducted from the long term disability benefit amount paid). I am considering accepting a settlement (lump sum payment of x% of the current value of my benefit) offered by the long term disability policy carrier. I'm wondering if SSDI ever offers anything similar. The closest I could find to an answer online is that they *typically* only pay lump sums for retroactive pay accrued from the onset of the injury to the date the case was approved. That "typically" tells me that maybe sometimes they do offer a similar settlement for the payments remaining until retirement.

Does anybody have any concrete info regarding this?

I've never heard of Social Security Administration paying out lump sums for SSDI.
There are some good discussions on pros and cons of accepting lump sum Long Term Disability by putting the term in search.
    Good luck
