  • Anybody have success appealing medicare denial for equipment recently ?

    Was thinking of trying to appeal medicare.. but then is it a fools errand?
    anyone have any success appealing a denial recently ( last 18 months ) ?

    6 years ago they denied seat elevator for a new chair. Multiple appeals. Last May they denied seat elevator for my current chair. I didn't appeal.

    Give it a try, appeal if they deny.

      Heavily depends on why it was denied. Medical necessity denials have some wiggle room. Items they just don't cover (e.g. titanium frames billed under upgrade codes) don't. Rule breaking denials need to have the offenses removed and be resubmitted. Medical necessity denials can be more easily argued than stuff that's just filed wrong or not covered.
