Then what are you doing in Israel!? lol ...
Roses are red. Tacos are enjoyable. Don't blame immigrants, because you're unemployable.

Can you guys (Canadians), mail so much back home a day as gifts without paying customs? If you can maybe send some stuff directly to your son's new residence?
Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow."

Thanks Sue ... I will go to the Canada Customs web site tomorrow and do some reading. Great idea!

You can't bring in any cologne/perfum more than 15 or 25ml ... no more brand purses ... they've really been cracking down at Customs! I lost about $200 via Ebay and no recourse to get my money back.

I want a Marni balloon bag! lol ...

May I ask what a "Marni baloon bag" is? Any pics on the internet?

From the USA we can mail up to $50 and label is simply as a "gift" and put the green card inside or be very general about what the gift is on the outside. Most customs folks here sort of relax the $50 for items going to troops at APO or FPO addresses overseas. And I never paid customs tax or duty when ordering from the US from an APO in Germany or Italy or an German civilian address way back when. I also have shipped software gifts overseas that cost $49.99 here but would cost $500 wherever.. The software is legal and licensed bought here. I pay more in mailing because I use old copies of New Mobility as some of the padding. Folks in some countries find those more incredible than their new programs.

In your case send lightweight clothing or if there is a train connection ship things fourth class (book) rate, if it still exists, and save a ton in mailing too.

My guess is that with NAFTA and GATT many gift limits have gone up.

Yea, skip possible counterfeits, alcohol, tobacco, perfume and other items with a strict limit. But for school clothes or possibly even a laptop (where the duty might be worth it) and other supplies customs shouldn't be a problem. Also check IGive.com for companies that have specials going to Canada. I use them for the free shipping from Canada. If you haven't used IGive and need a referrel to get the extra $5 to our charities let me know and I'll PM one to you.

                Marni balloon bag?

Some people have their quirks, a trendy purse is one of mine. David often jokes I have an expensive 'empty' purse. lol

And come to think of it, you can't get Coach products or Downy Wrinkle Releaser here either (love the stuff for my uniform shirts!)

Thanks for these ideas lynnifer. I am going to definetly get some Downy Wrinkle Releaser (DWR).

Not sure my taste or my son's runs to Coach but ya never know.
