  • Changing gears on a top end xlt pro

I have an xlt pro 27 speed demo for the week and I cannot for the life of me figure how to change the gears. The 27 speed comes with 9 gears in the front and 3 near the crank. The crank gear is stuck on the smallest cog so I only have the hardest 9 gears available to me. Don't get me wrong, I get a gear workout, but my favorite route includes the steepest hill in the city.

Does anyone know how to change the gears on the crank?

    Thanks in advance,

Mine has the shifters that double as brake levers.
Left side does the crank gears right side does the cassette gears.
The 'brake lever' takes the gears down to the high ratios, the little black lever brings them up to the low ratios, both by pushing downward on the levers. You can get 1, 2 or 3 gears at a time depending on how many detents you push through when properly adjusted. You will hear the 'clicks' so you can count them and you will get used to it later after riding a while.
Same for the crank gears on the left side, they go one chainring at a time only though. Big lever to go up, black lever to go down. I think these are called STI shifters, I forget.
If all else fails, trace the wire to see where it goes, if you have a different shifter design. Lemme know what ya come up with. I'm off to the store to get files to sharpen a chain saw, lost the others in a box somewhere, lol.

It has a manual derailer?? WTH. The chain came off last night when I changed the gears. For a $3k bike its kind of a piece.
