    East Coast

Well I have been stuck in Windsor Locks CT for the past week so yesterday and today I decided to take a couple of road trips! So yesterday I go to Boston. Oh Boy! I decided to go have a bowl of clam chowder at Union Oyster House which is supposed to be the oldest continous running restraunt in the US (since 1826!). I also took some time to wheel around Faneuil Hall. Well let me tell you. I dont think I have ever seen worse sidewalks! VERY rough, very uneven. Not much accessibility at all. I did make it in to Union Oyster House but it wasnt easy. But I have to report it was well worth it. Chowder was good but clams were better! Also had a 3 pound lobster! Yummy! I did discover, from a to be nameless waitress, the boston baked beans at Union Oyster House come from a can!!!! AHHHHHH Thats just wrong!

So today I think a little different. Mystic CT and then up to Newport, RH (I live in Newport Beach, CA part time now and also spent lots of time in Newport OR). I had chowder at the Black Pearl in Newport and dinner in Mystic. Both places were very cool but accessibility is terrible. I know, I know, these are old buildings. Good part was the seafood was excellent!

So my report on accessibility is... East Coast bad! But worth the visit and well worth the hassle! People are all really nice. Tomorrow... I think Maine for the weekend!

You should have tried the Inn at Mystic. EXCELLENT food and their restaurant is accessible. They also have a few accessible rooms at their inn. but yes, the food is great at their restaurant!!

Hey now! No judging the East coast soley based on the New England states, there is a lot more of the East coast to travel than just those.

And...no juding the east coast based upon a couple of cities either...I live in Milford, CT...and it is very accessible. If you want some really good food, the Chowder Pot by me has the best! You will not be disappointed!

Well I just spent a couple days in Mystic! I like it there and it was a long weekend. Little rain here and there but not bad. Also visited Gillette castle and drove many back roads.

In Mystic the best food was at the Captain Daniel Packer Inn! I had a great lemon, shrimp, mussel, and scallops on a bed of pasta! Yummy. Hard place to get into though. Well on the bottom floor anyway. Is that the Inn Candy?

I had steak at the Steak Loft restraunt. It was just OK. Not great but not bad. Accessibility is OK, but there is two steps going into lounge.

I liked the sea swirl. Tasty seafood. Its outside so totally accessible.

I spent a fair amount of time at the Harp and Hound pub. MMMMMM Guiness!!!! Not accessible but lots of nice folks that basically pushed me in. I met so many people there! It was a real highlight. But after 2-3 I had to go back outside and around back to drain the bladder. One night, I did that quite a few times! LOL (yea Taxi!)

I drove up to the casino. Mohegan Suns. Casinos are not my style but I read that it was the biggest Casino in the US, so I went. Like I said, I dont like casinos much but this one is very nice. I had lunch in one of the restraunts. Very good but after about 2 hours I had to get out!

So, Mystic is very cool. Not real accessible but not real bad either. Definitely worth a visit!

So this AM I drove back up to Windsor Locks to find a real headache with our airplane in the maintenance facility.... Oh well!

You mean there is more to the East Coast than New York to Boston???

I have been to Atlanta and Gulf Coast alot and Florida of course but not in between. I am looking forward to visiting there!

Milford is right by New Haven...down by the shore. If you found your way to Mystic...then you are familiar with route 95. You just hop on 95 until you get to Milford...couldn't be easier.

I do haveto agree with you though...this state is extremely small. I used to live in Wisconsin for most of my life, and I never dreamed that I would live in a state that would only take me an hour (hour and a half tops) to get to another part of the state regardless of where it was in relation to me.

Hope you are having fun on your trip!

u've got to head over to block island while u're up there...also while in rhode island check out watch hill. my sis is up there right now...charlestown...said the weather's been nice.

do u fly? isn't windsor locks airport small...dad had 2 planes that he would take to shows and had flown out of there. matter a fact just before we moved down to florida there was a terrible storm that spawned a tornado...that doesn't happen very often in connecticut...ruined most of the planes out on the field.

any way...hope u're havin fun. i'm proud to call connecticut my home state...i'm from branford which is right on the shore and east of new haven.
