  • Phoenix-Scottsdale AZ Area??

I would like to stay in the Phoenix/Scottsdale AZ area around the end of March 2006. Has anyone stayed in that area or actually live in that area and can recommend a suitable hotel/resort/spa for me in a wheelchair and my girlfriend? I've already checked out tripadvisor, orbitz, expedia, hotels.com etc. I'd like some firsthand input from you folks. I don't care about golf courses and tennis courts but rather a nice place that's fairly flat. Thanks.

    Check out this resource:

You can also often get recommendations from the local ILC for accessible hotels.

PHX/Scottsdale is a great city. I grew up in PHX and spent the better part of my wheeling years there. Pretty much all major hotel chains are accessible and Scottsdale is a very easy place to get around from a chair.

If you want luxury look into the Phonecian Resort. Super plush but super $$ also.

I concur. PHX & the surrounding area is large enough that you can just pick a hotel chain you've used before & just wing it. I've spent some time out there & everything is pretty accessible & not all that hilly compared to where I live in VA.

It's too hot for my liking, but should be nice in March. Have fun.

Thanks for all the replies, we decided to try The Copperwynd Resort and Spa in Fountain Hills near Scottsdale; http://www.copperwynd.com/ and http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Rev...s_Arizona.html We called the hotel and they said it is wheelchair accessible and they have a HP room with a roll-in shower. I don't really give a crap about the golf/tennis/spa stuff....I'd like to check out the area around there(housing prices, taxes, utilities etc., and casinos) and see if it might be a suitable climate to move to someday. We'll be renting a van from Wheelchair Getaways.

My husband and I are thinking about relocating to that area too...I'd sure be interested in your impressions. Especially about the housing and job market...

                Thanks....

I moved to Phoenix in '99 from Seattle. I love it here. I travel a lot and it is probably the most accessible place I have ever been to. It's nice and flat and almost everything is new so it is all up to ada codes. I does get a bit hot here, just don't sit in the sun to much. :-) Have fun on your vacation.
