    NYC Cabs

Visiting New York soon. Will be staying in Willlamsburg.

Last time was in 2019. Cabs weren't reliable and trying to street hail in busy areas was hard. Looking for advice/feedback please.

I have downloaded the Accessible Dispatch app ... is the service good, reliable, timely?

Their site says arriving at the airport just go to the dispatcher ... do you recommend a meet and greet instead?

We actually just got back from a weekend in NYC and had a great time. I used the Curb app for taxis. It's like Uber but works with the yellow city cabs instead. Once you create an account they have a button to call an accessible taxi right to you. I did learn to write in the notes that I needed a ramp van as the first few times they sent vehicles that could physically fit an empty wheelchair in the back but not while I'm in the chair. Wasn't a big deal as we just requested a new cab and it was fine. Once I put the note in we didn't have that problem and they used rear entry Toyota Sienna vans. I'm in a power chair and fit fine. Never had to wait more than 5 minutes for a cab, but we were in Manhattan.

In addition to the above, I believe New York City has very accessible rides with Uber and Lyft.

Double check me but I think you have multiple great options as opposed to the suburbs.
