We've (my able-bodied girlfriend an I) got 36 hours to "kill" in Puerto Rico 4/8-4/9. We'll just have spent a couple days in San Juan the week before so we're looking to get away from that area and maybe find some mountain/rainforest activities. I've got a pretty rugged chair and can stand/walk a little - does anyone know of any state or national parks with trails that I might be able to negotiate? or swimming holes/jumping rocks? or just cool little towns in the interior of the island that might be fun to spend the night in? THis particular section of Todo Negro State forest (https://www.discoverpuertorico.com/s...?itok=BFft5Db_) looks promising but I haven't gotten far enough into researching to determine how accessible the rest of it may be. We're willing to drive 2-3 hours each way out of San Juan. Any wisdom anyone i the know has to shhare would be greatly appreciated.

This is a shot in the dark, but you might call the PVA chapter for Puerto Rico and see if they could offer any advice:

Little late for your trip unfortunately, but just visited San Juan in February. Castillo San Felipe del Morro and San Cristobal were “wheelchair accessible” as they are federally funded as part of the US National Park Service. Access is free for those with permanent disabilities, they will let you sign up at the gate if you don’t have a pass, otherwise $10 each. Beware manual wc users though, the ramps are VERY steep and long at both sites (full of potholes as well), would not have been able to do without a spotters help pushing up at both to roll to the top of both forts. But, worth the time and effort - awesome panoramas of San Juan, the beaches, and Caribbean at both sites.
