    Vancouver accommodation

Can anyone make any accommodation recommendations for hotels in Vancouver for a couple of aussie tourists? My fella and I are cruising from Sydney to Vancouver in April next year and need about 5 nights accommodation in Vancouver. We don't want to hire a car, so public transport must be close by. We are then going on a tour including the Rocky Mountaineer for 5 days and end up in Calgary. If anybody has any tips...must see's, accommodation..etc I'd greatly appreciate it.

Lucky you! Vancouver is the most accessible city we've visited since life changed. We stayed the Hyatt Regency during a business trip a few years ago. The rooms were spacious with true roll-in showers. Hotel staff were very knowledgable about the needs of wheelchair users. I would recommend looking at for Vancouver hotels, find something in the area of town where you want to stay and that meets your budget. Call the hotel to ask about the type of room you need.

    You can also search:

The highlighted areas in this link will take you to information about accessible public transportation within the city and areas beyond.

We needed a minor wheelchair repair during our stay. I called these people and they directed us to a friendly bicycle shop.

Vancouver Art Gallery ( unfortunate acronym ) has seasonal exhibits and is worth a stop.

The Harbour Boat Tour was fun. There's boarding assistance available from the crew for wheelchair passengers. The bathrooms on board aren't wc accessible though.

    Have a great time.

Go to the Top of Vancouver restaurant for either lunch or dinner. It is a revolving restaurant that rotates once an hour and the views are incredible. North Shore mountains, stanley park, burrard inlet plus all of vancouver towards Burnaby. Enjoy your trip. Granville island market is nice for a ? day.

I have some tourism links on my website (it's for wheelchair van rentals in Vancouver):
