I saw the pics but hadn't seen the score. That's a record book buck.

Finally made it back from WY and I think with the weather up there and all the game I could've stayed for an extra week. There were canada geese & ducks, prairie dogs galore, turkey and goats everywhere. The only thing we didn't see was a good whitetail and I had a tag.

Wished we could've hunted antelope the whole time but there were so many good bucks that I knocked one over the first day. We scouted this really nice one that I had dead-to-rights at 200yds but my gun didn't go bang when I pulled the trigger. I had a bullet in and my pin dented the primer but it clicked. That's always a cool feeling. Guess I didn't have the bolt all the way down or something. Anyway, I cycled in another round and found him closer to 300 when I sent a shot off right over his back. He and his harem went bye-bye after that.

Caught up to this fella right at dark trying to fend off another buck that had eyes on his group of does. We got in to about 150yds and it was all over! Tall grass this year and super-healthy animals. Can't wait to go back.

I hunted with a group called Chairbound Hunters and they do great work up there. I always donate a little and help spread the word. Big Al is starting to take Wounded Soldiers too now.

Nice goat brother. I've wanted to venture out for a couple years now, but it's a long hike from Virginia.

Iowa technically has 2 disabled seasons. First disabled season is the same as youth season. This year it was Sept. 20 thru Oct 5th. They also have a non-ambulatory tag severely disabled residents can get. (Not sure about non-res). That tag allows you to hunt from opening day of the first deer season (youth/disabled) till the very last day of late muzzy/bow season, with the weapon of your choice (muzzy, shotgun, bow, crossbow, pistol?) That's the tag I get.

Anddddd I still haven't been out once all fall... The buck I wanted, my brother shot...

Since I am not hunting these days and don't have a deer of my own to brag up, I will show off my grand niece's first buck. She got the 8 pointer yesterday morning. She and her dad went hunting about 30 miles out of Denver where they live. They hit the lwoods about 6:30 a.m. and after walking about 100 yards she saw it standing broad side. Easy shot. They were back home around 7:30. Melissa is still on cloud 9. lol The thought crossed my mind that those mountains would pose a real challenge for someone in a wheelchair.
