Yes Honey, I Am Still In The Basement Building The Lamborghini

Seventeen years ago, Ken Imhoff watched Cannonball Run and became so enamored with the Lamborghini Countach in the film, he hand-built his own, in his basement. In what we imagine might be the most Jalopnik build ever undertaken, Ken designed and fabricated his own tig-welded frame, installed a thoroughly massaged 351 cubic inch V8 with a ZF-25 5-speed transmission, hand-formed the aluminum body over a meticulously measured and accurate body form, and finished it all off in a beautiful metallic gray. It took Ken 10 years to complete the project, and the results — as you can see both in the gallery and in the video below the jump — are amazing. There's only one problem, when you build a car in a basement — how do you get it out? Find out below.

Wow. He did a great job fabing his custom Lambo. Ha, nice hole and ramp out of the basement. Totally worth it.

That's amazing. After all that work, I would be tempted to leave it
down there, rather than risk wrecking it or screwing it up in any way.

It's also way more practical than a real Lamborghini (as if a Lamborghini
had any practical use). It'll run on pump gas and he can do any mechanical
work that it may need. I wonder how it's geared and if it can break 200
          like a real Lamborghini?

LOL...That's awesome, now thats a project car or what! Can you imagine the patience that dude has. Good website too, Jalopnik. This truck was on there too, check it out, it takes about 50 secs to get the gist of it:

I've seen another one where a guy built his own hummer. Did basically everything himself, formed all of the body panels, built the full interior, drive train, everything himself. All from scratch!!

                    Great thread, cool cars.

Will the basement be a new garage space? This guy's got me thinking.

No, the guy built it from scratch. Used 2 donor trucks, and a Hummer hood. Everything else was scratch.

Wow, takes do it yourself to a whole new level.

Growing up, there was a man who lived in the area who was building a boat in his garage. (Think big boat). It took him years. 10 or more, and he had to dismantle the garage to get it out.

I appreciate the craftsmanship, but that's not a Lamborghini, it's a Ford powered replicar. With his skills, I wonder why he doesn't create his own chassis/body instead of faking someone else's.
