    Injection into tight muscles

I've had nonstop severe spasm & tightness in some back muscles since injury. (almost 2 years)

I do massage, osteopath, ultrasound, shortwave, etc... it all works but very temporarily. Next day it's the same thing again.

I'm thinking of going for injection of botox or cortisone or something like that.

Anyone have experience with any kind of injections to get muscle to settle down? How effective, how long, etc?

    thanks

Baclofen Pump. I held out as long as I could, too. Botox prolly won't work, is $$$ and NOT covered, and Baclofen has few side effects/very localized delivery. Trust me bro...

I've never even taken baclofen or any anti-spasm medication. My meds are limited to Ditropan and I'm not big on the baclofen pump idea at all.

I thought baclofen with or without pump was for general spasticity due to SCI. Isn't it? My problem is not with general spasticity (although it is bad, I have not had any atrophy because of it)

It's one particular muscle that seems to be irritated, knotted up and tight all the time. I've made an appointment with a pain specialist to get her opinion on my options.

      thanks for the reply.

          Botox injections

I had the pump for baclofen and had it removed
9 months later. For me it was to invasive. Then
I did the botox injections to quads and hamstrings. These muscles are big and not the best choice for botox. I now only take ditropan medication. I use essential oils, massage and pot.

              What can be injected?

I've heard of botox, cortisone, novocaine and stuff to "freeze" the muscles.

anyone else had shots of something to get a muscle to just relax? It's driving me insane.

              thanks for the feedback everyone

                Done

Just had my first injection of stuff to freeze the muscle and some cortisone. It's only been 2 hours but for the first time in almost 2 YEARS my pain is under control.

Now I'm starting to realize how much the REST of my back hurts. Everything is relative, I guess.

I go back in a few weeks for stronger stuff... I really hope this works!
