My husband is going to have a temporary DRG Pain Stimulator by Abbott Laboratories placed on December 9, 2022. Has anyone ever heard of or had experience with this device? His injury is T9/10 and if he gets relief from the trial stimulator a permanent one will be inserted at the T11 area. We are cautiously optimistic that he WILL get relief from his 22-year chronic pain. We have been advised that he will have the temporary device for one week and during that time is allowed to do NO pushing, pulling or straining. If he gets relief and a permanent one is inserted he will be limited for at least three weeks post-surgery. My question is two-fold - how does one transfer a 200 pound paraplegic without allowing him to help assist? Danny is VERY self-sufficient with a transfer board and trapeze, so much so that every health care worker who sees him for the first time is amazed. Second part of the question is anyone have success with this device? As always thank you in advance for ANY info! Here is a link to the stimulator . . .
