    StimRouter for Shoulder Pain

    I am looking into this StimRouter for my chronic shoulder pain. Bioness is the company behind this device. I am aware that these stimulators have been around since the early 1990s to treat pain. It works by scrambling the pain signal if I recall correctly. This StimRouter is subcutaneous, but the surgery does not appear to be very invasive. It is also clear that the StimRouter is much more miniaturized than its predecessors of the 1990s.

    I will continue to investigate this option for treating shoulder pain before I decide to be the canary in the coal mine.

    If anyone has any experience with this implant, good or bad please share.

    It looks like it operates like an advanced, targeted version of a TENS unit, which is the closest experience I've had. I'm not quite sure how to explain how it helps pain, but I'd guess I'd describe it as "distracting". After my shoulder surgery, I practically lived with the TENS unit some days.
