My Dr. Says God is mad at me and thats why I have pain O.0

    Ummmmmm YEA...
I started to see a new GP, she does not practice pain meds, and I knew this, I just needed a new gp. I have another Dr. doing my pain meds. I told her my whole story ect. I swear that she told me that God was mad at me for something....maybe not for something currently, but in the past. THAT is why i have pain....This a "regular" gp, not from a clinic affiliated with and church or anything. She wants me to say the "lords prayer" many times a day. "I am a sinner, please forgive me for my sins". I was pretty shocked at this. I was nice to her as she was very nice to me and wrote out many referrals that I needed for a new neuro doc, sleep studies, ect. She didnt know what a physiatrist was though?....said i would have to find one and she would write out a referral for that too.
Like, I believe in God, I pray and stuff. Im kind of against organized religion for some personal issues. I have prayed many times for my pain to go away, or get better. It makes me feel better, but has had NO effect on my neuro pain.
geesh...Im SURE the pain has nothing to do with getting shot 5 times , my t10 shattered and my cord severed by a hot .45.
    Is this lady crazy?
I feel like asking her for some of the meds she is on .(crack?)...they MIGHT make me feel a lil better....ya know? what would jesus do and all that?
Has it been five years yet? ..........

You still need a new GP. If she does not even know what a physiatrist is, she should not be practicing medicine. Not to mention her religious issues. To not only infer that God is responsible for your pain but to come out and say so is unethical. As soon as you find another doctor, report her to the medical board in FL.--eak

Good grief-that is crazy! There are so many directions I could comment on the inappropriate and unprofessional way that doc acted.

We had a dietitian at rehab of all places give us an unsolicited religious talk of how God knew since "Dave was an itty bitty baby" he would fall from that tree.
Seriously it pissed me off so much I nearly chased her down the hall.

If you have to see her again, I would explain to her that God gave us all free will. The criminal that shot you chose to use his (or hers) to do an terrible thing that has given you your cross to bear in life. Her cross to bear is to help you to bear yours. Tell her that God knows you can handle it because he gave it to you and not her. That MAY shut her up.

I too have issues with organized religion. My biggest issue is with those who insist on selling us theirs.--eak

How did you select this GP? What are her credentials? If you require medication for pain management and you knew that it's not part of her practice, why did you choose her?

She is a certified md. She is part of my local hospital, which i have medical indigence with, so all my stuff is covered wether or not my insurance covers it.
I was told that it was a good idea to have a regular gp as well as PM, Urologist, ect. Mostly, I just needed her to write some referrals and have a dr. for check ups ..you know, flu shots ect. When I told my last PM Dr, that I wanted a sleep study done, she said that she got a bunch of paperwork upon my request to her nurse practitioner and only handles PM. She said I have a gp who does that kind of stuff for me. UGHH! Docs!

If I went to a provider who said that to me, I would be looking for another PCP that day. It is very unprofessional, and I would question her competence in other issues as well. I would also file a complaint with the Medical Staff office of the hospital concerned, your insurance company (for contracting with her) and the county and state medical licensing boards.

Just because a physician is licensed does not mean they are good, competent or even sane. Physicians protect their own, and while complaints may get filed, it is rare that a physician has their licensed revoked.

Ask your other physicians for a referral to another primary care physician. Ask nurses that you know for a recommendation too. Get an internist (internal medicine) or family practice physician, not a GP. A GP has medical school and only one year as an intern before they start practicing. They have no board certification. An internist or family practice physician will have had at least 3 years of residency in addition, and must continue their education to maintain their board certification.

The SCI-Nurses are advanced practice nurses specializing in SCI/D care. They are available to answer questions, provide education, and make suggestions which you should always discuss with your physician/primary health care provider before implementing. Medical diagnosis is not provided, nor do the SCI-Nurses provide nursing or medical care through their responses on the CareCure forums.

This goes for psychologists and social workers as well. Do yourself a favor and do a 15 minute check on your state's licensing and disciplinary websites before you receive services from any provider. You'd be shocked who you might be entrusting your most personal information and vulnerabilities to sometimes.

I would bet that many people spend more time trying to vett their auto mechanic or home improvement contractors than their medical providers.

I was going to suggest this, but thought it might be a bit excessive. However, if a nurse is suggesting it, then you may have cause to raise this issue with proper authorities if your claim is completely accurate.

Ill have to do a little more investigation to make sure, but im pretty sure she IS a family practice physician. Least thats what the place is called....Family Practice at XXXX...
Yea I will be finding another Dr. and filing some complaints now that I have some feedback that Im not the crazy one.
I swear, I am going to start recording ALL of my conversations with my Dr's from now on. This is the same "family" of "Drs" that one, told me I should feel NOTHING because Im paralyzed a few years ago. I was in A LOT of pain at the time and was not as nice with her. Not mean, but, I then asked her "when was the last time that she read a study on people with SCI and neuro pain? 1977?" I didnt yell at her or cuss or call her names or anything, just asked that question. She then walked out of the office and returned with the head DR. I dont know what she told him but he immediately walked around the back of my chair and started pushing me out of the office and down the hall. When I tried to stop at the payment desk, he kept pushing and almost knocked me out of my chair. He said there was no need to pay, and a few days later I got a discharge letter from them.
ughhh. SCI and the Drs that cant fix it or the pain suck. Which is like....ALL of them?. NO COMPASSION! They are all scared to write for any strong opiates now as well now in Fl. The DE@ has them all running scared of loosing their licenses. I understand the whole "pill mill" problem, But Im 33, have no criminal record, never "lost" my meds or had them "stolen". No "red flags". I have obvious debilitating pain. Its just crazy to me.
