  • Baby toe question

Recovering from Cauda Equina. 4 weeks.

I have S1 numbness on left leg down to baby toe.

I now have sensation on top of baby toe. All the nerve maps I see shows baby toe (top and bottom) as S1. I think this is a good sign. Can the top of the baby toe be a different nerve?

There can be some individual variation in the actual boundries between dermatomes, esp. in the toes, which is why the "official" place to assess sensation for S1 is the back of the heel. Is your sensation there completely normal?
