    Resource for fund raising

We often get questions about how to go about fund raising for those who are uninsured, or who have needs not covered by insurance (ie, vans, home modifications, post-rehab exercise programs, etc.).

One problem is how to ensure that the money collected is protected from being counted as income for the person, as this can interfere with Medicaid or SSI eligibility. Also, setting up an account for the funds can be expensive and a time waster.

This organization will provide help with the latter problems. They have helped a number of people with SCI over the last few years:

You may want to pass this on the family members of those with new injuries.

The SCI-Nurses are advanced practice nurses specializing in SCI/D care. They are available to answer questions, provide education, and make suggestions which you should always discuss with your physician/primary health care provider before implementing. Medical diagnosis is not provided, nor do the SCI-Nurses provide nursing or medical care through their responses on the CareCure forums.
