  • Progress Update

So, my husband is c5/c6 complete - injury in August.

Here's what he can do now:

-pull both knees up, individually, by initiating a spasm
-rotate knees towards each other, sometimes with a spasm, sometimes without
-when he pushes his feet against my hand, I can now feel him push, albeit lightly
-he's starting to feel tingling/tickling in his toes
-can feel pressure on his knees
-can balance much more when sitting up

He still can't move his toes, and he doesn't have light touch or pinprick sensation below injury. He does get flickers of movement in his fingers, especially his thumb and forefinger.

Anyway, sometimes it's just nice to reflect on all his accomplishments/improvements so far. He's come such a long way.

At 4 months post, he should expect more in the future. Keep up the good work!

He's ahead of where I was at 4 months. My sensation was good. Wish him the best from me. To you as well

This is great news. Keep after him to continue working hard for as much return as possible. At this early date post-injury...is tremendous recovery.

Thanks - you guys are great. It's so good that there's a place to go to for encouragement -- at rehab there just isn't the same sense of possibility. However, we're now going to NexSteps in Chicago and it's amazing -- we love it.

Thanks Mr. Coffee! BTW, someone wrote yesterday, I think, that you should consider couseling/peer support. I agree! Reading your posts about your progress/determination definitely helps me to keep a positive attitude.

And yes, he's still "complete" according to the ASIA guidlines. Still, his progress makes me hope . . .

Brighter days. Hey,thanks for sharing your husband's progress. Exercise makes a person happier and a happy person seems to show more progress than a sad person! Keep up the good work!
