    C4-C5 fracture

A good friend of mine got into a really bad car accident a month ago and fractured her C4-C5. She still doesn’t have any feeling below her neck instead of some slight sensation in her hands. Is there any chance for a full recovery?

"Full recovery" is an exceedingly rare thing, involves a modest injury, and most of those rarities would have seen some movement by now. That said, there is a good chance of meaningful recovery and an independent life.

I hope your friend has found her way. I’m C4 complete, no movement or sensation below the neck, nearly a year ago. I’ve had zero improvement and I’m expecting that this is the way it is now. But I am back home with my parents who are looking after me. It’s very isolating though and I’m also terribly bored!

A lot depends on whether it's a complete injury, a fracture, bruised, Etc. It took me probably 4 months to get where I am today, 40 years post.

I am also C-4 C5 complete. 30 years post injury so a lot of things have likely changed in regards to treatment and possible recovery. Initially although I don't remember it I had some hand and wrist movement when I first went in the hospital. But my spinal cord continue to swell and I lost it all couldn't move my arms at all. It's fuzzy now of course but I regain some shoulder function and bicep slowly after a month or two. It was week for a long time. I found a regained the most strength after returning home 10 months later.
