    Non-cath female urinary management

My non-SCI paralysis and aging issues have progressed to the point that transferring to the toilet is possible but difficult, let alone getting my slacks down before the transfer.

This site has been very helpful to me even though most of the suggestions deal with women who cath. The idea of having an opening in one's pants is great as then I could transfer to toilet with pants on, then open or pull fabric aside to urinate.
I had been looking into devices to let me urinate in my chair, using a fracture pan or a small collection device with a hose to a toilet or other receptacle. However I'm concerned about the major maneuvering to get such items in place while seated. This method, however, would help when visiting family where I can't use their toilets.

The modification of slacks/jeans sounds the most do-able for me when home. I'm thinking of making the opening a few inches to the side of the crotch seam instead of the seam, and then after transferring to the toilet just pull the fabric aside to urinate. (No underwear needed). With the opening far enough from the crotch seam it seems the fabric could be pulled closed without using Velcro. The idea of Velcro on my bottom does not sound safe or comfortable for skin as I have sensation.

Just wondering if there are any new or different suggestions on this issue. I'm looking forward to resolving this problem and drinking as much water as doctor recommends!

Have you considered wearing a skirt instead of slacks? This would make it much easier to use a female urinal. Here are a couple of examples.

I have never seen this one before, but it is on Amazon:

Also this on on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077RYXL7T...detail_2?psc=1
    and this: https://www.amazon.com/Portable-Urin...989SSGP6QGKWB9

This one appears to only be available in the UK:

Then there is the option of using a female urinary funnel, and adding a drainage bag or soda bottle to it. These are actually designed for AB women to use when standing to pee. Many versions of this on the market (including eBay and Amazon):

Thanks very much for the suggestions SCI Nurse! I really appreciate it.

I have now ordered several to try them. The issue of wearing skirts is under consideration, though not a preference, but maybe a necessity.
That one from the UK looks like flexible material and I'd love to try that one - could not find it at that website, although it had some good suggestions for urinary management.

Just an update: I tried about 8 or 10 different devices for urinating while in wheelchair but was totally unable to get into position to safely use them. Some of them required a "catch" bottle, additional tubing, etc. I was unable to do the maneuvering required.
I then focused on improving my slide transfers to the toilet - daily stretching and light bands for strengthening. It works for now.

Something I think would help has apparently not been invented yet - some kind of everyday wheelchair with a built in commode, with easy emptying with tubing. With that kind of system wearing a skirt would be handy.

There is actually a Japanese wheelchair like this, which is actually kind of gross. Of course you cannot use a good pressure reducing cushion with it, either.

Have you tried the pStyle? I have used this for camping (although admittedly while standing).

i have never been able to transfer to a toilet with my SCI paraplegia leaving me in a wheelchair for straight cathing. I use a sealed system which allows me to drain my bladder into a bag which I can then empty. I use a Bard Touchless 4A5044 and know that there are identical vinyl systems like this if that works for you.

I believe that triumph is continent, and voids voluntarily, so is not needing to self cath.

Cathing in a wheelchair for women who do intermittent cath has been discussed here many times before (and can be done with any catheter, not just a self-contained sterile).

A Number of years ago I was in your boat, had control with just a bit of urgency, could transfer but couldn’t stand the pull down my pants. I found a number of devices to help me. I know I posted the list, but I can’t seem to find it. But I remember there were both funneled type of things, like the pee –wee that let you funnel urine into the toilet on the ground, and also self-contained things – – both reusable (like the female urinals posted above) and disposable things, which contain pellets or powder that turned the urine into a gel or solid for easy disposal. Also I plastic almost toilet seat that was self-contained. You could look in my posts before 2009 (when I got my suprapubic) or try searching on things like: travel John, travel mate, female urinal… There also was a commode chair and came with blue liners with appellate send them that I changed the urine to gel.

Wow! At first I took that literally and imagined you trying to deal with the rocking!

Then reality returned. This sure sucks, doesn't it?!!
