        Bumping this up.

        (KLD)
The SCI-Nurses are advanced practice nurses specializing in SCI/D care. They are available to answer questions, provide education, and make suggestions which you should always discuss with your physician/primary health care provider before implementing. Medical diagnosis is not provided, nor do the SCI-Nurses provide nursing or medical care through their responses on the CareCure forums.

              Yay! I am here!

Well, ladies, I am battling a pressure sore. The nurse has it packed and covered, but I am looking for advice to help myself.

I know -- stay off of it!! Oh, if only ... We are rotating but my breathing issues from the pneumonia make it impossible for me to lie flat. Any ideas?

When I came home from the hospital - paralyzed again - I kinda gave up a while and quit trying. I couldn't breathe and I was frightened and didn't want to be alone (still don't, actually). I gave my family a hard time and they are REALLY burnt out with me.

I need some friendship AND a a good kick in the tail, I guess!

              :-) Sharon

WhatToLive, you are not yet in the Women Only Forum. You need to scroll down to Members Forum (on the front page of the forums) and enter the forum from there. Note that people who are not members will not be able to see the forum. However, you are a member and you should be able to see and get into that forum. Just in case, there is the link.

                          Mona-on-wheels,
I'm sorry to hear your bed ridden. My daughter went through this for 2 months last year. Is it on your IT area? Make sure the person that's taking care of the wound is debriding the wound. Your doctor should have given you a script for some type of ointment called: Ethezyme. It took Samantha's sore in less than two weeks to clear up dead skin around the opening on her IT area and after that I put Duroderm bandage which keeps the area dry and covered, but the bandage breaths and stretches. It's expensive stuff but it did work well and didn't have to worry about new skin coming off when I cleaned and put the Ethezyme stuff on. The duroderm has to be special ordered through your pharmacy. I got Samantha's through her (Medicaid)home health plan to buy me some more to keep on hand if she has any more pressure sores

Do you have an airbed so your more comfortable when lying on your side?

Did you hear about the clinical trials in Austin at Brackenridge Hospital? I'm hoping that I can get Samantha on the list for this.

                            Dear Wise
i would like to be given access to the women only forum, I have tried a few times to register but it seems I am doing the wrong thing. Can you help me please?
I would really like to be included in a women only place for all the reasons previously enunciated on this thread.
My former professional life as a women's health nurse and advocate brought me into close contact (unfortunately) with a lot of the opinions voiced by the likes of 'Wheelchairtitan'. He promulgates his attitude under the guise of anti censorship. I have other names for it.

Are you equally distressed by the existence of the Caregivers Only forum and do you view your inability to access it as censorship, too?

Hello! I am a 30-year-old C4/C5 quad from China.I knew this forum because of Dr.Young, and have been read something here for about 2 years. From this forum, I knew a lot of knowledge about SCI. Recently, I registered in this forum and found the Women Only Forum. I think the Forum may provide more useful knowledge and experience for me as a women. So I want to join. Because my English is very limited, so I never post something here. Could I join Women Only Forum ? Think you!
