Mona, I am in your position. I've been eating so healthy and I've dramatically cut my calorie and fat intake. I'm doing what upper body exercises I can as well. I feel my metabolism has totally stopped. Does anyone know of tricks to increasing it?I feel disgusting and this really worries me. If you find a trick , let me know please!

BTW, I can tell in your profile picture that you have lost weight

            Me, lol. Thanks

My face, arms, and legs are skinny.
But my gut is 31" wide. Unbelievable!
            I worked out 1 1/2 hrs & ran 6 miles 3-5 days a week before.
I don't eat sugar, white bread, white floor, white rice.
I eat salmon, chicken, raw & steamed fresh or frozen veggies.
I'm serous I eat better than I've every eaten.
But my gut keeps getting bigger.
If I cut back my bowels stop moving.
You not only have to eat fiber but must eat enough to get it to move.

Help! Anyone? Someone? What can we do?

I don't know Mona because it sounds like you're eating better, how about consulting a nutritionist. When I need to lose 5lbs, I do it by eating more lean protein and little carbs, that works for me.

Thanks wtf I guess I need to cut back on carbs.
I lost on Atkins before but it's so unhealthy.
                I'll try somewhere in between.

I watch a Dr's show on tv & she mentioned CLA conjugated linoleic acid.
It's suppose to reduce fat in your belly. So I'm going to try it.

                • Increases metabolic rate -- This would obviously be a positive benefit for thyroid patients, as hypothyroidism -- even when treated -- can reduce the metabolic rate in some people.
                • Decreases abdominal fat -- Adrenal imbalances and hormonal shifts that are common in thyroid patients frequently cause rapid accumulation of abdominal fat, so this benefit could be quite helpful.
                • Enhances muscle growth -- Muscle burns fat, which also contributes to increased metabolism, which is useful in weight loss and management.
                • Lowers cholesterol and triglycerides -- Since many thyroid patients have elevated cholesterol and triglyceride levels, even with treatment, this benefit can have an impact on a thyroid patient's health.
                • Lowers insulin resistance -- Insulin resistance is a risk for some hypothyroid patients, and lowering it can also help prevent adult-onset diabetes and make it easier to control weight.
                • Reduces food-induced allergic reactions -- Since food allergies can be at play when weight loss becomes difficult, this can be of help to thyroid patients.
                • Enhances immune system -- Since most cases of thyroid disease are autoimmune in nature, enhancing the immune system's ability to function properly is a positive benefit.
If you're interested in taking CLA to help with weight loss, keep in mind that it's not a magic, and you will need to start a program of diet and exercise in order to successfully lose weight and keep it off.

I'm a T12 with a huge belly. I hate it. I need to committ to some form of exercise. I want to swim three times a week, but find excuses not to do so. Weather it be getting there or having too much to do, or just not feeling like it. I wasn't an exerciser before so becoming one now is challenging. I don't have anyone around me to support me. It's frustrating and I know it's important to my life.

                      Drug induced weight gain?

                      Something to consider...

Weight gain caused by antidepressant drugs is a major reason for patient noncompliance with treatment and poor treatment outcome.

I saw in an old thread where Mr Coffee said he got his abs back by e-stimming. I wonder would it help with the quad belly.

                              Mona,
yes, the gloves that you describe could work for your arm bike. just be careful bc those bikes can cause shoulder injuries after awhile. That happened to me so now I use the Vitaglide. On the Vitaglide, I prefer to use the tri-pin handles so I can be independent and I need someone to put my gloves on.
If you have any muscles at all in your stomach, the Vitaglide will help to exercise them. If not, it can still help because it can help you lose weight overall.
