Bird Flu is getting closer to North America ... it is coming ... oh my!

I love the following end line in this article ... " If the bird flu spreads, it could devastate the hugely profitable Christmas trade in poultry."

WHAT ABOUT the people? YOU? ME? Should we buy our TAMIFLU now ... ? ?

"Deadly H5N1 bird flu breaks out in England"

    Associated Press
    November 13, 2007 at 6:51 PM EST

LONDON — British officials say an outbreak of bird flu in eastern England is the deadly H5N1 strain of the disease.

The return of the disease, which had its first mass outbreak of the strain earlier this year, is yet another blow to British farmers struggling after cattle were hit this year by foot-and-mouth disease. Acting Chief Veterinary Officer Fred Landeg says the source of the outbreak has not yet been identified.

He says it is closely related to the strains found in the Czech Republic and Germany over the summer.
Officials said earlier that about 5,000 free-range turkeys, 1,000 ducks and 500 geese on the affected farm were being culled.

If the bird flu spreads, it could devastate the hugely profitable Christmas trade in poultry.

Roses are red. Tacos are enjoyable. Don't blame immigrants, because you're unemployable.

I imagine there's already going to be a huge drop in people eating turkeys in England this Christmas.
I don't eat bird at Christmas, anyway. *smug* (j/k)

Have there been no cases of avian flu in North America?

It's only going to be a matter of time.

I'm surprised it hasn't hit already.
