For Cass and others: Freda Kahlo

Was going to post this in the pain section of the site, but I don't think it belongs there. I love freda's unconpromising ability to graphically paint her pain two paintings in particular are among the most graphically agonizing The first one is simply labeled pain http://www.ala.org/ala/ert/pain.jpg the other one is this
http://biography.free-people.net/img/pint_kahlo3.jpg notice the nails in her flesh. I am wondering if anyone knows of any other artists who graphically try to paint the physicality of pain? Van Gogh was more emotional pain. Is there other artists who attempt to portrey the physical experience of pain.

Was Pain painted by Frida Kahlo? The name and date at the bottom of the painting isn't consistent with her name or lifetime.

Personally, I prefer the paintings of Remedios Varo. The surreal imagination of her works is amazing.

I used Kahlo's Broken Column as an avatar for a short while. It was suggested I change it because of the exposed breasts.

It is a piece that particularly speaks to me. I was interested in Kahlo's work before my injury but now....

In your first post, you posted a link to a painting labeled Pain. It seemed as if you were insinuating it was done by Kahlo. That's where I was confused.

'The scream" is by another artist who may have influenced "Pain" I thought kalho painted "Pain' but cann't find it listed BTW she was mexican so would probably have signed her art in Spanish.

I admit I am wrong about the "Pain" painting it wasnt painted by Freda so to make up for my mistake this one is definitely hers.
