"Apology to USA"

"Apology to USA"

By Rick Mercer....formerly of "This Hour Has 22 Minutes":

On behalf of Canadians everywhere I'd like to offer an apology to the
United
States of America. We haven't been getting along very well recently and for
that, I am truly sorry.

I'm sorry we called George Bush a moron. He is a moron but it wasn't nice
of
us to point it out. If it's any consolation, the fact that he's a moron
shouldn't reflect poorly on the people of America. After all it's not like
you actually elected him.

I'm sorry about our softwood lumber. Just because we have more trees than
you doesn't give us the right to sell you lumber that's cheaper and better
than your own.

I'm sorry we beat you in Olympic hockey. In our defense I guess our excuse
would be that our team was much, much, much, much better than yours.

I'm sorry we burnt down your white house during the war of 1812. I notice
you've rebuilt it! It's very nice.

I'm sorry about your beer. I know we had nothing to do with your beer but
we
feel your pain.

I'm sorry about our waffling on Iraq. I mean, when you're going up against
a
crazed dictator, you wanna have your friends by your side. I realize it
took
more than two years before you guys pitched in against Hitler, but that was
different. Everyone knew he had weapons.

And finally on behalf of all Canadians, I'm sorry that we're constantly
apologizing for things in a passive-aggressive way which is really a thinly
veiled criticism. I sincerely hope that you're not upset over this.

We've seen what you do to countries you get upset with.

Thank you.

the british burned the whitehouse.

and we owe you an apology too.

we are sorry we hung your leaf upside down

we are sorry we are taking all your pro-hockey teams.

we are sorry you and the rest of the world dont exist to us.

we are sorry for giving bush the power to annoy you.

we are sorry bush has bullied you into helping fight our wars.

oh and we are sorry for hanging your leaf upside down, wait i already said that.

The british/canadians didn't get involved for a couple of years while hitler was invading poland. So what's the point? At the time America had a well known neutrality policy, and didn't feel that it was necessary to fight europe's wars. The british/canadians begged the U.S. to enter the war, and the rest is history. But just like the french, canada has forgotten how many times the U.S. pulled their bacon out of the fire. This is just an opportunity for other countries to ruffle their feathers and attempt to enforce their sense of self importance. Unfortunately, right now there is only one global hegemon, and it's not canada. Freedom has always been fought for by better men than the one's who enjoy it's benefits.

I found the whole thing pretty funny, myself.

...it's worse than we thought. it turns out the people at the white house are not secret muslims, they're nerds.

LOL...now that was funny.

Canada was fighting Hitler for three years before the US decided to join....and then only because the US experienced Pearl Harbor. The UK's capital was being bombed nightly back in WW2 and was practically begging the US to assist. Now, in 2003 the UK is showing what true friendship is about, it's about helping out, even if it is not in its nation's best interest.

They fought and lost DA while the USA watched. Perhaps this is why they aren't so quick to support the US. Hehe...I'm not sure about that but heh, history is on my side.

pd they would have won if they had went after hitler before he was full military strenght unlike the same dumb way the world wants to deal with iraq. wait until saddam is at full strenght.

PD

In ww2 axis of evil were Germany, Italy & Japan ,because they were in "cohuts" to redivide world/had secret agreements about it...In my opinion US joined war in Europe mainly because of success of Red Army after Stalingrad & advance into Europe...Hitler's mistake( to the advantage of Old Europe) was that he mistrusted Stalin even after Ribentrop-Molotov pact/division of Poland & Soviet invasion of Baltics...Imagine what would be with Britain, France and most of Europe if He would not attack Soviet Union in 1941?!

Btw I dont consider Iraq, Iran & North Korea to be "Axis", neither I agree with Bush rhetoric about God & crusade...

I really find this "apology" very funny....

DA: Saddam will never be a "full strngth" like Hitler or Stalin...I think all attempts to compare him to Hitler are frankly saying -just incorrect (despite little unknown fact that Saddams role model is Stalin, he admires him greatly)

And LOL, Carl!

I spent summers canoeing in Algonquin Park in Canada. We also used to go there frequently for the benefits of St. Catherine's St in Montreal. And it was always nice to get to practice my French.....in more ways than one.

Candaians who know better will always apologize for their wayward comments toward the US. Even if it hurts them to do so. Canada couldn't defend itself against a ten year old with a BB gun. They need us. We need them like a hole in the head.

St. Catherine's street is a lot of fun indeed. And Algonquin Park is quite beautiful.

Jeff, I know you're angry right now but why do you say you need us like a "hole in the head"? We disagree with your current administration. So does most of the rest of the world. Canada has been and will continue to be a very faithful ally & friend and by far your largest trading partner which benefits both of us.

We're secular and pacificists but we share a lot of ideas, values & lifestyles with you guys. That doesn't make us your enemy.

We're sorry about our beer, too.

If I wasn't laughing, I'd be sorry about your attitude. But you made me laugh, so I'll let it slide. If I can dish it out to the French, I'd better be able to take it as well.
