Hi All. Halfway through my vacation, back from Yosemite. I stayed with friends and this was what I woke to daily.
I can't seem to post from my tablet. -ket
Olmsted Point Yosemite. Hard to capture the grandeur, the scale.
9000 feet. Though a "walker" I hit the wall here. There are a number
of accessible trails here to good view points. Olmsted is the only one
I dared venture off these paths.
Back from Ket's big adventure. Had a lovely time. After returning from CA I
visited family at the Jersey Shore. This is Long Beach Island, the 12th St.
ocean beach. I spent much time there as a child but I haven't visited in 45
years. Many memories and so many changes.
Beautiful simplicity.
I grew up in Toms River, NJ a bit north of LBI. Like many places along the shore watched LBI grow over the years.Fond memories.
You really covered some miles this summer, well documented in your outstanding photos.
Yosemite. Note the orange/brown trees. This isn't autumn fall color, it is summer. After several years of drought the Ponderosa Pine were infested by bark beetles which killed over 66 million, yes 66 million Ponderosas in CA, all of them. While driving over a rise there were vast swaths of dead trees, heart breaking. Dry as a bone, a fire hazard to an unprecedented degree. -ket
Looked thru your thread last night, love your photos, style and interests! Drowned my stuff a few years back in the lake, recently got a cheapo($100 camera) and then lost it a few weeks ago. I have over 100,000 pics on hard drives from 2003-2012...I spend long hours going over them during high-pain days, to take my mind of it. Keep posting, really enjoy them!! we have had pine borer, beetle problems here in the Smokies for decades, wish it were not so.
