A man lost control of his car & almost wiped me out!

I was laying in bed this morning and my aide & I heard a loud banging noise and then smoke started coming in the doors & windows! She looked out & screamed there's been a wreck & the car's smoking! She started calling 911 & running out to give help. He almost ran into the bldg I live in! He wiped out a tree and started... rolling & was maybe 15' from my place! He had to be going 60-70 mph. He traveled a 50' before he stopped after wiping out the tree! My sister's bldg I live in is maybe 75' to 100' off the road. You'd think I'd be safe from cars hitting me.
He got out with his head bleeding but refused the ambulance. I was praying! I was scared someone was hurt bad & the bldg. was going to catch fire.
Not sure why but my aide said he had no driver's license & no insurance & got in no trouble.

Bloody hell! That must have been terrifying, Mona!
I'm so pleased you were physically unharmed!

How did the driver get away with having no licence or insurance though? I'm baffled.

You can never be far enough from the road when the vehicle is speeding. Wow Mona, I am glad you are okay and your home is okay.

If he had no license or insurance, then he should be in trouble.

        Good Grief Mona!
Remember when you said you felt like staying home a while after you were nearly in that accident?
At least no one was hurt. I'd be shook up too.

Thanks Keps, T, and Linda. I'm gonna call the police tomorrow & ask why he didn't get a ticket or anything.

          T. it's 65 mph in front of my place. So not sure he was speeding.

The smoke had me freaked out the most.
You know where I lived before. Don't want to go back.

Linda I remember. I'm getting antsy. Not safe in the van or at home.

I think you have the right to feel paranoid. I would also follow up on why te guy had no license or insurance and got no ticket. Something wrong there. Sometimes they give the ticket later if the address that he gave isw the correct one that is.

Mona, SO glad you are OK, and I can understand how terrifying it must have been! Years ago when I owned my house some asshole came barreling through my fence, onto my front yard, and missed the corner of house that held the oil tank by only a couple of feet. He destroyed my hedge, fence, and nearly my house. In this case the jerk, who was probably drunk, just reversed it and sped out again. Since it was the middle of the night there was no one who saw it. At least your jerk has serious car damage to make him think about his stupidity.

Thanks everyone!!! I'm still weirded out over it.

Todd I've never seen that movie. Not sure I should. lol

Eileen that's a bummer for sure. Thank God he didn't blow your house up!

He's a pretty decent guy. He came back yesterday evening with a chain saw & cut up the tree & bushes & hauled it off. There's still glass everywhere. Guess it'll have to be raked up some how.

Skippy that's what several friends said. It'll probably be mailed to him.
That's still strange. I'd got a ticket right there.

                          Thanks for caring. Mona

Mona, did you call the police to find out what happened with the guy?

You probably won't so I'll just let you in on it. Final Destination was a popular teen horror flick that came out in 2000. Although, it's spawned many sequels, the premise is the same in each movie: In the opening scene, select actors escape death by choosing not to go on a plane, a park ride, etc., because of one actor foreseeing their horrific deaths. However, death continues to follow them throughout the film and kill them because they escaped death.
