Driver car door blocked

I went to the grocery store yesterday, most days I park at the back of the lot to burn more calories not a car on the back line. I come back from picking up a few things and this guy totally parked next to the drivers side door. There was absolutely no way I was going to be able to get in and I didn't feel like waiting, so I totally transferred in the passenger side door, took apart my chair and then kind of hopped to the drivers seat and drove off.

Has this or anything similar happened to you?

If I had a dime for everytime this had happened to me I would be rich! I can't use anything but the side door with the ramp though, so when I get boxed in I only have two choices. One is to wait.......or the other is to find someone who looks honest and ask them to drive my van out a few feet so I can get into it. So far so good, but someday my fear is that the person I give the keys to will just keep going........although that is less of a concern now that my van is getting pretty old.

yes and because of my occasional bad temperment hed had 4 flat tires and a $250 fine ticket awaiting him when he returned. It took my over 1/2 hour to get in the car.

Bill, I like your style. Once, years ago, I was with a friend when someone who was going to a disco (dating myself here...) to dance parked in a HP spot. I asked them to move and they refused. Lo and behold a ten cent Bic pen in the hands of an AB is enough to let the air out of a tire............. No guilt, they deserved it.

A dab of super glue in the door locks is quite helpful as well.

This happens to me allll the time...... people see a young girl driving and they think hmmmm why does she need to park there and dirty looks and so on are exchanged... until I put my ramp down that is and people quickly change their attitudes!!!
Once I was parked in the handicappped spot and these people actually blocked me in they got out started beating on the passenger window telling me I was abusing the spot..... I picked up my cell phone and said "you better move cuz I am reporting you, then I continued to put my ramp down on their vehicle" let me tell you as soon as they seen the ramp coming they surely backed their vehicle outta the way!!! So many people abuse parking privelages.... I have learned over time that if you have a side ramp and you pull into your spot and angle your van no one can really get beside you to block you in!!! Also my favourite is when someone just decides to share your spot with you for a few minutes while their parter runs into the store, when you ask them to move their excuse is oh sorry I thought there was enough room!?
well I could go on and on about this subject but I will stop now!

I've even been blocked in by a sheriff's deputy's unmarked car when I worked for a county government. His excuse was that It was not properly marked spot since there was not a sign hanging on a pole in front of my truck. Lucky for him I was nice and went and disrupted the meeting he was in (with some help from a buddy) and got him to move his car. I was really tempted to place my chair ontop of his car with the hoist in my truck bed and then call the media to embarass him.

Yes. In the older days I'd make sure I could get in a car both sides everytime I bought a new car.

This happens often to me as well and when you run your nicely scuffed hand rim along the side of their car, it does seem like a great stress reliever! I'd like to see the look on their face when they come out and try to figure out the nice swirl scratches on the side of their car. There are alot of ignorant and rude folks in the world and we kinda gotta stand our ground!!

It happened to me once, I am not as mobile. Had to ask an AB to help me back the car out (it was a rental so he had to remove the portables and I had to put them back on).

It has happened to me a handful of times and only when parked in cripple parking - people parking between handicap spots in the no parking area (hospitals and hotels are real bad about this). So far I have been able to transfer in the passenger side.

Happened to me while at school. I was coming out of a class and had an appointment to get to. Come to see that there is a car parked not only in the stripes but really badly in the stripes. I call the security and they arrive and tell me that there is nothing they can do. I said why not, is it because there is a chicago police sticker in his window? The security guy just sort of looked at me funny. I said well you better figure it out in the next two minutes because I am going to be late to a doctor appointment and if I miss it you will be getting the bill. He ended up finding the owner of the vehicle and it was moved but no warning or citation was given. HMMM

Happens to me too. I try to park my right side wheels as far over (but still inside the parking spot) so that I have plenty of room on drivers side. I have had some morons get over the line and into my spot still.

A hc guy with EXACTLY the same type as van as me with EXACTLY the same side where the ramp comes out blocked me!! He said he was really sorry but there was no other place to park.
