Cheese! That is the best holiday gift you'll ever get! My granddaughter is such a blessing. I remember when they told me she was coming (a MONTH before she got here!-somehow they thought this would all pass unnoticed? Kids LOL) I was new to disabled life then. I remember thinking "Well, these 2 kids just complicated their lives IMMEASURABLY. And in the process, gave me the best fun I can even think of!"

I think they were a little startled at my response. Steve started to get stern, a kneejerk reaction. I let out a whoop LOL. Grandbabies are the best babies of ALL!

And I've had no disability related problems with that child. Sometimes she tries to fix my "broken hand". When she was but a wee toddler, I babysat while her parents worked. I blocked the doorway to the living room w/ the couch. There was one other spot that was dangerous for her, which I blocked with the vacuum sweeper. She has an unreasonable fear of the vacuum. She would stand there, waggle her finger at it and tell it just what she thought of it, in gibberish. But she never went past it to the dangerous spot. Like everything, you just adapt for them.

Of course, Kayli is my first-ever female relative. All brothers, all sons, so she was even more of a gift.

Losing Dogger, gaining this wonderful treasure. It's all part of the circle, isn't it?

I just saw this cheesecake. Congrats! She is a beautiful little girl.

There is something inherently joyful about a new baby and all the promise and hope that comes with them. I know she will bring you and your family much happiness.

(I just sounded like a badly written halmark baby card there, didn't I )

Congratulations Cheesecake, what took so long ? My three daughters talk about it all the time, the married one's been trying for over a year. And I'm a year younger than you. Great looking grandbaby.

Thanks everyone for the wishes and congrats. Quadvet, I am not thrilled to have the title "grandma" but overjoyed with Sophia. I had other photos but kept getting posting errors. Her 10 year old brother (part of what took so long ) has an ear to ear grin in the photo.
