Any grants available for wheelchair accessible construction in new home?

Hubby and I are about to embark on a wonderful journey of building a new home. During our research, we have learned about possible grants to help with modifications and/or new construction costs specifically for wheelchair accommodations. Does anyone know any specifics about how to go about finding and applying for these grants? One person we talked with mentioned something about "PFHA", but when we called one of the listed lenders, he said that particular program is for people who do not have good credit (which, thank God we do!). He said you just have to find and apply for the grants and that your lender should work with you. We called the lender who has preapproved us and he said that he would certainly allow that to be part of our construction loan, but no one seems to know WHERE we can go to apply! I did a Google search and came up with articles, but nothing specific, other than grants range from $1,000-$10,000 (and probably higher) depending on what is being done. We are in Pennsylvania, so if anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Maybe something in these will help. Some are loan programs. Most seem to be income/asset related or require Veteran status.

You might also want to set up a "Go Fund Me" account for the project. Have a nice photograph taken and write a paragraph about your needs. There are many people who prefer to donate directly online.

Best of luck to you both.
