Great news! Feels like a bridge has just been opened and we're now connected to the mainland!

      Now what happens?

Offtopic-Had to laugh at/with Duran. Don't you HATE it when you innocently use some phrase you were raised with, and it hurts someone's feelings, when the last thing you meant to do was slur anyone?

If I had a dollar for every time I've done that, I'd buy a nice celebration dinner tonight.

            I don't THINK Yank is a slur..but I've been wrong before!

I need guidance on what comes next, also. If I happen to hear any, I'll pass it along here.

Good work, fellow advocates! We need to all be patting ourselves and our buddies on the back. Our 10,000 letters, calls and visits didn't go down The Black Hole after all! All the money we spent on trips to DC, all the politicians that invested their time in supporting us...This feels like a dream to me.

I read a stat once, wish I could remember exactly. It said that only 1 in a thousand bills that are introduced to Congress are ever passed into law, I think? We beat the odds on a phenomenal scale with this one, for sure.

I wish Christopher and Dana Reeve were here to see it. I never met him but she was so proud of us at the first rally, when she spoke about how much it was needed and how she knew it was really hard for us to travel to DC. And I wish Dogger was here...the only Aussie that ever went to DC to support us in lobbying for the CDRPA.

Don't mean to be a downer. It sucks when people deserve to see something through and they don't get to...

              Amen to that, Betheny.

BTW...I think the stat is 5% of bills make it to the floor for consideration, 1% get passed.

You guys worked hard getting that bill passed and I think without your efforts it would never have passed. Lets hope good things start happening.

Maybe Dogger whispered in someone's ear. A little heavenly intervention couldn't hurt. That's what I want to think at least.....

So, can someone supply a list of the Thanks Yous that need to be sent. Harkin fer sure... Kennedy... Who else?

Yeah, now what. And what happens in the House?

I don't think Bush will have time to veto it, and the CDRPA has never been one of his targets. He only has 4 days left in office anyway, and he's probably deciding who needs Presidentially pardoned right now, don't you imagine?

For thank you's, Harkin, Reid, Clinton, Kennedy, Langevin, Bono...there are more we'll have to think of. Actually, anyone that had a Senator or Representative that co-sponsored the CDRPA would be wise to send them a thank you. We'll need these relationships in the future. Even I get to send one, to my Representative!

I haven't decided what to send to my Senators. Probably the less said the better, although I want to send a Venus flytrap and a note that says "Bite Me!"

I don't know how the House will feel about those Land Use bills. I do know that historically the CDRPA has passed the House easily, and sometimes unanimously. We'll probably hear more about the next steps tomorrow, if our friends up there aren't too busy with Inaugural Balls and such.

Man of Spine, thanks. I so hope everybody that bothered to try on this realizes how proud they should feel. This kind of thing doesn't happen often in a lifetime. The whole roller-coaster ride was so crazy because we had that one adamant enemy, it was like even when we won, we lost. I've never been so discouraged as when Sen.'s Harkin and Coburn went toe-to-toe, and I realized that even with the majority in favor, we were beaten. Thank God for Senator Harkin, my hero for life. That dude NEVER gives up! His nephew Kelly, that's been paralyzed for over 20 years, must be so proud and happy today.

I am happy you appreciate my support betheny. It was some battle to get it through. Good will come of this and I also am very happy about Steven Edward's effort to get the attention of Obama. With all the wars going on, and the tumbling financial scene this is a blessing.

I have tried becoming a supporter on a couple of these politician facebook pages and I keep getting a message saying
"Your attempt to become a fan was not successful. Please try again"
do you think it is because I am in Canada? unfortunately you have to become a supporter in order to message or post of the wall.

It should breeze through the House, it did last time, now we have a more supportive and united House.

I don't believe it will be vetoed. If it is left unsigned Obama will move it through.

Yeah JenJen, Dogger was there in 2007 and the rally, who could miss that big Aussie hat? Lots of voices were heard.

From middle of November to Deb 31, I lost 4 friends, all quads, the youngest 29. Time for sci to stop being fatal!!
