    My fav is Chicken & Dumplings, better suited to winter time.

    Boneless, skinless chicken breasts, I usually cut them in two
    handfull of baby carrots
    celery stalk-either cut up to eat or leave large and remove before making
    cut up onion
    sometimes button mushrooms and/or green or red peppers cut small
    large sprinkle of poultry seasoning
    Pepper
    bayleaf
    1 can Campbell's Cream of Chicken soup (you can use the low fat/sodium variety if you want) 2 if you're making a large pot
    water & chicken broth (or bullion) to cook like a soup. Quanitites aren't real important.

    When the chicken is very done (usually a couple of hours or so, I like it so the chicken falls apart) take out the chicken pieces and add a couple cups of water, then I make dumpling's from the Bisquick box, usually the low fat variety (boiling the dumplings uses up the extra water you just added). I grind fresh pepper on the dough after they are dropped in the stew and before the "cover & cook" phase.
    Remove dumplings and put chicken back in the stew to serve.

    This really is quick to fix, I use pre-made ingredients like the chicken breasts, baby carrots, then just follow the directions on the bisquick box. There's some time spent at the beginning, then at the end, but a lot of downtime in between. Low cal and low fat if you use the right stuff, but you'd never know it. Rewarms well, too.

    Now, I'm hungry.

      pre heat oven 350 , betty crooker 12 oz brownie mix complete , just add water. mix well. i add 1/4 oz if it's really good stuff or 1/2 if just ok stuff. mix well again. put in oven , bake about 20 minutes. enjoy

        Noodles with vegetables..i bet u will love it like nething..

        Boil noodles in one spoon of oil and ofcourse water.water should be proper enough to get it boil.

        Take one spoon of olive oil on other deep pan, add sliced french beans, carrots, capsicum or any vegetable u like, add salt n let it cook properly.Add soya sauce to it, vinegar, green chilli sauce, black pepper crushed. cook for a minute and then add noodles to it...

        Serve hot with col drink....

          lol kenf. that reminded me that I haven't baked cookies in a while.

          hey beebee, my grandmother used to make dumplings from scratch, the bisquick sounds a lot quicker.

          that sounds good shweta and spicy too, yum.

            Stay-a-bed stew

            (from the "I hate to cook book" by Peg Bracken)

            2 lb. beef stew meet, cubed
            1 small can tiny peas, drained
            1 cup chopped carrots
            2 chopped onions
            1 tsp. salt
            1 can tomato soup
            1/2 cup water
            2 sliced potatoes
            1 bay leaf

            Mix everything together in a crock pot or dutch oven with a lid. Cook in oven at 275 F for 5-6 hours, or on high setting for crock pot for 6-8 hours. Serve with french rolls and a salad.

                chili

                My husband loves this chili.

                1 lb ground beef
                2 cans stewed tomatos
                2 cans light red pinto beans
                2 cans dark red pinto beans
                1 medium onion chopped
                1 green pepper (or 1 sm can diced green chile)
                1 clove garlic finely chopped
                1 bay leaf
                1 clove clove
                chili powder
                cayanne pepper

                brown ground beef in large pot. drain.
                add chopped onion, garlic, and green peppers (or green chiles). Saute until onion is tender.
                Add tomatos. put bay leaf and clove of clove into a tea steaper and add to pot. Add chili powder and cayanne pepper to your liking.
                let simmer 30 minutes.
                add light and dark kidney beans.
                Heat through.
                remove tea steaper with bay leaf and clove.
                serve with hot sweet cornbread muffins smothered in butter.
                Yum.

                  Onion soup meatloaf

                  I have this in the oven as I type.


                  2 lbs ground beef
                  1 1/2 cup bread crumbs
                  1 packet onion soup mix (like you'd use for dip)
                  1/3 cup ketchup
                  3/4 cup water
                  2 eggs


                  Mix eggs, water, ketchup and soup mix.
                  Add the meat and use your hands to combine with liquid mixture.
                  Add bread crumbs and knead away until everything is blended (good OT if you have weakness in hands like I do)
                  Put in loaf pan and place in pre-heated 350 degree oven for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
                  Simple and classic!

                      Here is another one that is mostly opening (and great fiber, but watch for gas!)

                      3 bean pot

                      1 lb. ground beef
                      1 small onion, chopped finely
                      1 medium can pinto beans, drained
                      1 medium can garbonzo beans, drained
                      1 medium can kidney beans, drained
                      1 small can tomatoe paste
                      2 Tb. brown sugar

                      Brown meat and drain off fat. Mix everything together in a crock pot and cook on low for 6-8 hours. Serve with a fresh fruit salad.

                        Kick this one up a notch by adding 3 tablespoons of Chugwater Chili Powder
