polenta and mushrooms stew.
is a delicious meal.
i will ask my mom to give me the recipe.
don't forget! I want the recipe if there is no meat in it. Or does "stew" imply there is meat in it? Can only "soup" not have meat in it? Well, either way, I can leave the meat out. Thanks!

mmmm. I love polenta. Never had it with all those vegies but sounds good. I thought we were the only ones who used a tomato base. It just gives it a whole deliciously different taste. Will have to try it with all the veggies when I get in my I don't want meat this week mood.
I can't believe the whole meal wouldn't benefit from a couple a cloves of garlic.
adi, you didn't list the tomato paste with the ingredients nor amount nor amount of water, corn meal, etc. When you write, "the mixture should became solid after 10 minutes of boiling" does that mean that the meal becomes a solid mass in the pot or pan, fit to be portioned by cutting it into pie-shaped wedges?

I remember back when I used to work on the railroad and my engineer brought in some homemade Goulash. He put the opened jar on the heater in the cab of the locomotive (it was a cold winter day, all windows closed) to warm it up and I swear, I thought someone farted. How he could eat that shi..... stuff was and is way beyond my olfactory sense and palate. Disgusting!
Just have wifey make ya a couple ham and cheese sandwiches and save your crew the agony.

I had no idea that chinese potstickers dumplings had an odor that was offensive to non-Chinese. I stopped bringing them as "bag" lunch.
When I was in Junior High (back in Queens, N.Y.) the kids were about 85% black, 10% Puerto Rican and the rest a mix that included us/me. I loved and would sometimes eat kippered herring (American style in those wind-down cans) toast sandwiches for lunch. When I'd return to school, the black kids would give me hell for stinking of the herring. I never even considered taking a kippered herring sandwich to Junior High. Some people just don't know something good when they smell it.
I suppose, in retrospect, that I could have brushed my teeth real well and avoided the grief.
