posting on this awesome food forum, already

overwhelming looking topics BTW , ugh! [bump

in necessary area if need be] You guys/gals

Are already doing a great joib on info!, Drs

had never helped me with. Not even helped by a

    nutritionalist in hospital durin injury!

So heres my questions and concerns, and thanks,

    wise, kap, marm, everyone

    Help me! Please?

I'm flesh and bones basicly, yes, too

underweight, But I hate my "quad Gut", causes

bad mental state. I hate eating being I was

unable to move for 15.5 years.

    As many know, my rehabilitation/evaluation

    starts wednesday, jan, 23rd .

I have to work VERY hard. It is like day one

again going back to therapy. I must somehow,

some way, face this. I must rebuild my body

    from neck down.

I have shoulders now, biceps, trace triceps,

upper abs, lower trunk, Last couple nights I

coulda swore I had upper back mucles , shoulder

I'm too weak, I feel my belly pulls me over

makes me fall, weak back, but CAN build

strength. Its kinda, well, I'll say "miracle"

after starting as only eye movement. Imagine

my stiffness, artritis? stiff joints, I must

    work out.

Please, I would love energy booster ideas as in

fluids? Also a healthy diet, what I should

eat, let's say 30 min before going to therapy?

Any tips? I have new life coming if I succeed.

We all have preferences but I'll even eat

    things I don't like if necessary. I eat 2 or 3

times a day, chicken and dumplings, steak,

sandwichs etc...Drink tooo much coffee. I am

off my narcotics, know I can finally get

somewhere physically. I'd like starting with

strength, endurance, energy, As I rebuild myself as if were day one 15 1/2 years ago, cept I

have the body to show for stuggles! ugh!

Help me change even more? Good nutrition!

Later I could end up with much better post

for "Great Day" post i made about transferring

after all these years, 5 1/2 hours ugh, !

Gimmie some yum yum ideas. Health drinks etc...

I take vitamin c, eat ok bu need a good

constancy, so gimmie those ideas everyone!

Help me update my "Great day" topic with even

better news from combinations of new exercise

I'll be doing, therapy, new movement.[hoping for best, expecting worse, no let downs from eval] etc...

Fast...and anyone else looking for an easy pick-me-up, meal substitution or energy builder...fresh fruit and protein smoothies are great.

Cut fresh fruit into 1" cubes and freeze in ziplok bags or tupperware. Get some good quality protein powder and some soy lecithin at your local health food store. Then all you need is some ice, a little creativity, and a blender.

Place ice, frozen fruit, orange, apple, cranberry or mango juice, a scoop or 2 of protein powder and lecithin and blend untill smooth. Delicious, nutritious, and easy to make.

Add some ice cream, frozen yogurt or soy milk for a creamy treat as well.

Because those of us with bowel or digestive problems tend not to eat enough calories (the good kind) and protein, this is a good replacement for a processed meat sandwich on wonder bread, etc. If you are doing PT or other exercize programs, getting this fuel into our bodies is essential.

    accept no substitutes

I think I"d wait about an hour before going into a rigorous PT routine.

Kap's right about the smoothies - also some of the low carb protein bars are good - only for a substitution snack!

In general, I would concentrate more on proteins and fiber and veggies than on startches and carbs (ie, taters, rice and pasta); tho, unfortunately, those are some of the best and easiest eats!)

Tough times don't last - tough people do.

Wait to see, but probably shouldn't eat right before therapy. It's easier on digestion to remain sitting upright for at least 45 minutes after eating, and therapy might have you on the matt.
Try to sstay away from deep fried foods, I was told that they are constipating as well as fattening. Protein would be good since you will be building muscle. And vegetables, yum. Soups are a great way to get it all in!

Great advice! ....Thanks guy n gals
