Seriously though, we're getting a cold snap this week and I'm going to the grocery store tomorrow. Do you have a recipe that I could use?

Wasn't it Dan Quayle that corrected the child's correct spelling of "potato" to "potatoe"??? Same rule.'

      Tomato plural is tomatoes.

Sounds yummy! Do you make gazpacho from fresh tomatoes in the summer too?

Gazpacho is a cold tomato based soup. Here is my father's recipe, which is what I use. Great with bay shrimp, sliced avocados, or crab meat sprinkled on top, along with a french roll...a perfect summer dinner.

              Gazpacho

              1 clove garlic, crushed
1 green bell pepper, seeded and cored
1/2 sweet onion, cut into wedges
1 medium cucumber, seeded and peeled
              3 Tb. olive oil
              3 Tb. wine vinegar
              2 tsp. Worchestershire sauce
              2 tsp. Tabasco sauce
              24 oz. V-8 juice
              5 large ripe tomatoes, peeled

Put all ingredients except the tomatoes and 1/2 of the V-8 into a food processor and process coarsely. Pour into a large bowl. Process the tomatoes and the rest of the V-8 until tomatoes are coarsely chopped. Add to the rest of the ingredients. Salt and pepper to taste. Cover and chill at least 12 hours. Will keep about a week in the refrigerator.

Serve cold with choice of garnishes including bay shrimp, crab meat, cucumber slices, avocado slices, and warmed crusty French or sour dough rolls.
