  • Birthday Dinner for 10 Good Friends

Had a wonderful dinner last night and celebrated the birthdays of two good friends. We were 10 for dinner. On the menu:
    • Shrimp Cocktail
    • Chicken Tetrazzini
    • Lettuce Gems Salad with Parmesan Cheese Vinaigrette
    • Beet and Green Bean Salad with Candied Walnuts
    • Pumpkin Spice Cake with Chocolate Leaves

It was all delicious, but NL's cake took the cake!

    All the best,

If that cake tasted half as good as it looks, it must have been out of this world. Great menu for a group. Would you share the beet and bean salad recipe?

NL is in the garden for the afternoon, but I will ask her to post the recipe soon. Keep looking back.

        All the best,

If I do dishes, can I be invited the next time! Everything sounded great! I'm not a big sweet eater, but that cake is absolutely beautiful!

Yes, they are semi sweet chocolate, white chocolate, and a mixture of the two to create the variegated ones. NL uses lemon leaves from our Meyer lemon tree and paints melted chocolate on the heavily veined side of the leaves. Then she puts them in the refrigerator for 10 to 20 minutes. After that, she carefully releases the chocolate leaf from the real leaf. It can be a little tricky, but I am always around to eat the rejects.
