HAIR in your food, what do you do?

I had vegetable egg foo yung from a restaraunt, one of my favorites. I get home and open the box. What do I see? A fried hair woven deep into the patty. Needless to say I threw the patty away and gave my other 2 patties away. I was thoroughly disgusted. That was 4 years ago. TWO years ago while we were eating at Denny's, my sons choice, he found a hair pulled it out and continued to eat. (by the way Denny's has the WORST vegetables, very dry) I was mortified and each time we pass the Denny's I cringe just a little. Fast forward to 2011, I'm eating my meal and I see a small hair. No cringing, no speeches my son removed it and I put aside that spoonful yet ate the rest. So am I growing or was I just hungry? Either way I like the fact that I didn't overreact about it so now I'm onto the next project.

I cringe, pull the hair out and keep eating... and I can be a bit of a germaphobe.

Politely point it out to the waitstaff and ask for a new meal.
If someone is not wearing a hairnet or hat it needs to be known.
No matter how nice of a restaurant it is a stray hair can end up in food.
Sort of a weird thread question, but that's my answer.

I think that's everyones nightmare when eating out. I have had to point out a hair before and the last time I found small pebble I was afraid it was someone's filling from there tooth eegg. I could not eat after that and the waitress did not seem to think that was a big deal. I said I was not tying to get a free meal . The worse is when you get take out you are already home and hungry.

At home i know its my wife's and can move it to the side BUT in a public facility its going back!! The reality is it may not have been from restaurants employees but from processing plant but they served it,,,,,,,,,,, I never make a scene or demand a "free meal" the few times it has happened..........

For me, it depends on the situation. If it's at home and I can identify it, then I don't get too worked up. If it's when I'm eating out and see one, I don't care if it's my own hair; I'm geeking out and can't eat anymore. Of course by then I'm pretty miffed. I'm not sure it's growing up that your behavior towards hair changed, but I do think seeing your son be so nonchalant when he finds hair in his food might have put things in perspective for you.

I don't recall ever finding a hair in my food while eating out but I have seen a cockroach scurry up the wall. I was like "whoa'' but kept eating lol. At home, we usually pull it out and keep eating lol.
